One detail about Chicago that even locals miss out on: Chicago has a large number of tiny museums covering incredibly obscure topics.

So true. All kinds of interesting places that you can do in an hour or two. The big museums here are world-class, but as such they are huge and could take you days each to fully explore. But the little ones are true gems, and let you explore regular Chicago neighborhoods, which are often overlooked by travelers with limited time.

@@NB-nh2sf I hope you have a great time in July! The gospel fest is in June this year but I’m positive it’ll be something going on in Millennium Park (where all the aforementioned festivals take place) the month you arrive. Actually Millennium Park is celebrating 20 years this summer so there will be a series of free concerts all summer in the park. If you love music, it’ll be worth it no matter the genre (musicians and selections are always family friendly) I happened to be in the park one summer afternoon and the symphony orchestra happened to be hosting a concert, it was such a beautiful experience! All of the music festivals are free to enter (except Lollapalooza but that’s in Aug), just be sure to bring your own chair! They usually have food trucks and different vendors out as well. The music festivals usually last thorough the weekend each summer month.

Chicago is easily one of the top ten greatest cities in the world. I've lived in 20 great cities but by far Chicago tops them all. Oprah was correct when she said if Chicago winters weren't so tough everyone would want to live here. Personally I don't mind the winters but if you've never experienced snow then you might be too delicate for the Windy City, especially in February.

Me too. They only got to just a few neighborhoods. Imagine if they had the time to explore the entire city and surrounding suburbs. Chicago has more character than most cities on the planet. And you have to love how clean it is compared to other major cities. Although not sure if I would recommend Logan Square or not. When I was a kid, my dad had a place there. It's been decades since I was last in that part of town, and I am sure it must be greatly improved since my childhood. But I still remember hearing those occasional gun shots. On the weekends he'd pick me up and we'd take the bus from Niles into Jefferson Park, and hop on a train the rest of the way.

I’ve been to Chicago so many times I loved it every time I was there the best food I’ve ever had was there as well, There are some bad parts of Chicago but there’s bad parts of every city you go to
Two tips for your next trip back. Take the Architecture Cruise out of Navy Pier. You get a good view and history lesson of the city. And go to the top of the John Hancock building for dinner or a cocktail at the Signature Room for a great view of the city.
@davidw7
Жыл бұрын
The Signature room just closed abruptly and not to reopen citing severe economic hardship that did not have enough business to return even since C*vid. Perhaps a drinks bar that opened at the 360 observation deck that is just above it on the 94th floor to view the city from above did not help.... though you pay a feet to go to that floor with discounted citypass tickets worth it for multiple city attractions for tourist. Perhaps someone else will reopen the cocktail lounge again that housed the Signature room in the future? Time will tell as so many other places like rooftop ones today to compete with.

I know tavern style pizza is preferred amongst Chicagoans but I don't know if I would go so far as to say Deep dish pizza is exclusively tourist food when you can find some of the best spots in locations outside of where the majority of the tourists go. Anyway, I am more familiar with Chicago than your typical tourist but I do not live there so I don't have a say. I live in Indiana and frequent Chicago, easily one of my favorite cities. Moving to Indiana was really the first time I had exposure to the tavern style pizza you are referring to and it is common here. Such a great video. The camera work is exceptionally clear, colorful and beautiful. You really showed off some pretty scenes of Chicago. I live in Chicago, and your video made me happy to live in such a fun and scenic city. Can’t wait to enjoy more of your travelogues of other places on Earth.

Welcome to my city. First, Giordanos is the best deep dish (you can try it next time). Second, check out the beaches in June. Third, Check out Union Station next time. Fourth, use the Boat Taxi's when you can. Fifth, visit Chinatown. Otherwise, great video.

So many fun things to do in Chicago ❤ Great architectures, Historical land marks, Delicious food 🤤 Museums, Beaches what not. Definitely one of the best cities in The USA. Of course it has its own challenges same like any other city.

I’m so glad you had fun in Chicago! And thank you for recommending that magic AI tool. I just popped on there with some parameters and it gave me an awesome itinerary for Cape Town South Africa, where we are planning to go this summer. I can tell I’m gonna be using this a lot :-)

I lived a long time in Chicago only a half block away from Wrigley Field. But that was in the 60s and it was nice to see your video, since lots has change in Chicago.

Grace, you've probably heard by now that CTA = Chicago Transit Authority, which is the company which runs/manages the "L", which is short for "elevated (train)". I agree with your assessment of the architecture tour. I took it several years ago. Wells St. is in The Loop (the downtown area which is surrounded by the "L" tracks,, but the main intersection is State and Madison.
