I remember as a kid when the 73's came out with the extended bumpers, they were great, some teachers had them, we'd sit on them and eat our lunch, like a picnic table. teachers complained so we went to the old way, sitting on older car hoods and eat our lunch, lol.

I had a 74' Regency 98 Coupe w/the 455 4bbl. in the classic "Marauder Maroon" color. Surely the longest doors of any car I've owned. The 455 has good power and the car is faster than you would think w/room for 7 or 8 people from the late 80's or 4 from today. One of my favorite sleepers, despite having a face only a mother would love...

Nathan, this is one intriguing and groovy example of an early 70's Olds. It's a shame that the roof can not go down. You know, the Olds 88s and 98s from 1968-1974 are intriguing and groovy too. I dig that Rocket logo of that time, and you know what's intriguing about safety for this car of the year 1973. The hydraulic impact absorbing front-bumper. When you hit something into the front, the hydraulic pushes you back and comes to a complete stop and everything in the front isn't deformed, except you would find a dent there! Also, this car is very solid thanks to the thick steel framing. The groovy times of 1968-1974. Imagine if this car is brand new, it would be like: *Casey Kasem on radio for American Top 40 on Saturdays. *On Saturday morning, there would be Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes, Archie, and DC/Marvel superhero stuff. *1973 would be the fuel crisis and everyone started buying Beetles and Pintos. *Ford Pinto is the popular car back then, but if a car gets rear ended in a Pinto, the Pinto would be on fire. *Music: Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Three Dog Night, Roberta Flack, David Bowie. *Movies: 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Godfather, The Exorcist, Planet of the Apes, Fritz the Cat. *TV: Brady Bunch, Adams Family, Star Trek, M*A*S*H, Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

Cool car. My dad has a 1976 Olds 442 W30 455. Its one of 14 known to exist in North America. He has owned it since 1979 and it took me and my 2 bros home from the hospital. He is the president of the Oldsmobile Northern Lights Chapter here in Alberta and his club is driving down to Cali next month and meeting Jay Leno at his garage to talk cars and going to the tonight show. Look up Ken 1976 Olds 442. Its the blue/silver one. Tons of pics. I love driving it. Its a total panty dropper lol.

Yes, the 500 was the largest motor they put in a production car. It was introduced in the 1970 model year. The 472 was used in the 1965 - 1970, and 1971 - 1976 Cadillac DeVille, and the 500 was used in the 1971 - 1976 DeVille. & both motors where also used in the FWD Eldorado's. Dream cars of mine... and I'm only 17 lol.

Yea, we had two 3rd generation Chevy pickups, both with 350's. My friends dad had two as well, I think one had a 305 though. Best trucks they (GMC/Chevy) ever made. I still see many on the roads everyday, that's the proof.

What a Grooovy automobile. They will never make em like This again; that's 4 sure. Maybe cars of this size didn't corner like today's modern euro-boxes, but this ride was a boulevard cruiser, made for America's long straight highways. Performance meant something slightly different back then. It meant that the car had to have a big gas guzzling engine, and it had to LOOK as though it was really moving when it was in your drive-way. It had to be long and flowing, wide as a barge and smooth in look and feel. It had to glide under way with a majestic surging ease. And this car ticks all those boxes ...Hot as Lava baby !
