On July 25, 2024 AAP MP Sanjay Singh criticized the Union Budget for cuts in various sectors, including defense, transport, pensions, health, energy, science and technology, food subsidies, north-east development, and social welfare. He highlighted the recent controversy over eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route being asked to put nameplates, arguing that those who stole money from the country and fled abroad should be given nameplates instead.
"They have even reduced the jail budget; at least increase that," Singh said. "I have gone to jail; next is your turn," he added.
Singh accused the government of discriminating against everyone based on caste, religion, or social status and now discriminating against states. He asserted that Delhi hasn't received any budget in nine years. Singh also mentioned that Manusmriti will be taught in Delhi universities, to which Dhankhar, the chancellor of Delhi University, responded that Singh should check his facts.
