Total agree - this water heater is a beast! Had our B/W 75 gallon installed a month ago, after our 8 year old 50 gallon kept running out of water over the holidays. (After having a water heater leak years ago, we proactively replace after @ 8-9 years) The hot water issues would have only gotten worse as our kids are now married/engaged and will eventually have families. Our model is almost the same - doesn't have the motorized exhaust. Definitely worth the extra cost.

I was researching models when I originally happened across this video, so I thought I would come back to comment. We recently moved in and we have 4 kids. It was SOOOO freaking nerve racking having zero hot water for Dad at night when I finally got to shower. Content on this brand is scare since they are not really sold to the public via big box stores. We have this exact model. This thing is a beast. We never run out of hot water now. Only 2 potential drawbacks I will point out to others who might happen across this video. 1) This thing is freaking HEAVY. It took 4 of us to get it down the stairs to the basement when it was dropped off. 2) I ended up needing some new HVAC exhaust piping as my old system used a 3 inch metal exhaust and this thing requires 4 inch PVC style pipe. This tacked on several hundred bucks. At the end of the day it was all worth it. More than enough to supply our house and then some, and no cold showers ever again.

Glad you are enjoying it as much as I am. Going on year 6, it's still a beast. I hope they still make these the same way down the line when it's service life has run its course. Yeah, I remember now the three guys on the plumber's crew it took to carry it down the basement stairs. They piped mine with 4" PVC on a dedicated run to outside the home. I keep mine on the setting just under "hot" - that's been enough to almost burn my hands with only hot tap on. Perfect setting - 6 years, never moved the dial.

@@robdokwon I am hopeful for longevity as well. As a new homeowner, I am having to learn all of the wonders of a furnace, water softener, hot water heater, etc. on the fly. There is no instructional manual for being a homeowner, and as a serial condo dweller previously, I took far too many things for granted. Like yourself I imagine, I can tell you everything you could every want to know about vehicle engines and components, but very little about household mechanicals.

All this new technology doesn’t mean it’s reliable! Like for instance washer nowadays which so many preset and stupid loan sensing that it would wash my clothes 4-5 before it would get rid of the wetness! I agree with you. Don’t care about all the bell and whistles, just want something that would heat up the water or dry your clothes. Branford White is the leading Top of the top when it comes to water heater!

How noisy is the power vent motor in DB?
@robdokwon
3 жыл бұрын
Great question Mario - it's loud enough that I hear it slightly from the first floor of the house (have a standard wood frame & wood floor home, no carpet). It's not intrusive. I don't have a decibel meter but it's not vibration inducing. It's very tolerable, barely noticeable if you're on any other floor. It usually comes on for 5-10 minutes when extended hot water is called upon.

How does that work exactly? Do they drain from hot water usage simultaneously or does one kick in with supply only when the other is getting fully depleted?

this is a power vent water heater not a direct vent water heater and i personaly would go with direct vent water heater cause you can use it while there is no power
@robdokwon
2 жыл бұрын
It’s a powered water heater because it’s a direct vented design. It has an electric fan that blows the CO2 out of the house through its own direct pipe. I have a generator so there is never “no power”. Dude, It’s been 7 years of unending hot water during even back to back 20 minute showers with extra hole-drilled Speakman 8 jet nozzle pushing 65psi house water pressure. Roughly 3 GPM! If you want this level of performance in a tankless on-demand system, you will need a massive-sized heater (or series of heaters) costing many thousands of dollars. Any good plumber will tell you that they are very unsure you can flow nearly 3GPM for half hour with any tankless on demand unit. I’ve asked many. Good luck.

Hey no ringing doorbells and running away - please tell me what you mean by "should at least run emergency to code" ? It's not clear what you are saying. Educate me, so I can educate my plumber who put it in.

@@robdokwon I think he meant the pipe coming off the relief valve should be run to a drain or outside, which is code in most areas. The logic behind that code is if for whatever reason the water heater overheats and the relief valve pops open, the boiling water that will gush out of it should be directed outside or down a drain instead of all over the floor, creating a flood and burn hazard. For $3200, it also would also have been nice if the plumber put a drain pan under the tank to catch the water that will be dumped out when the tank inevitably fails and develops a leak so it doesn't end up all over the floor. Hopefully this clears up what I think he was trying to say.

@@averyalexander2303 in my state it's not code to use pan in basement. As for the relief valve extension to drain, there was no drain in my basement (again, below grade) to run it to.

@@RC-xr2hm I'm open to the concept of a tankless for my next go-around (whenever this one dies). What did you go with? I see a lot of videos by Matt Risinger on the Rinnai models - he raves about them (but he is a paid sponser). My only concern is how many GPM can the tankless systems heat for an endless shower? I have 65psi internal house line pressure and a 3.5 gpm speakman shower head (I drilled a large hole in the water saver insert - it's fantastic). And what BTU unit did you go with? 200,000? is that enough? share your detailed thoughts -
