Another great video bro. Ive been thinking about ordering from volts. I watch royaljz videos and I love the race and the cruise scene they got going on out west. I'm still waiting to see an old greyhound engine built on here. I've yet to find a video of one and I have a greyhound on my doodlebug and I love it. It's been holding up really strong

I have three Greyhounds. Two are utility engines and one is built for the minibike. They're just an odd clone with the unique side cover and five bolt head. Build them just like any other engine and all parts are available. Studz racing and NR Racing still sells the side cover and rocker cover gaskets. My Greyhound has been sitting on the shelf since I built a 224. But today I removed my stock Hisun 196 and jackshaft from my second bike and put the Greyhound on it with a torque converter. Pretty strong runner for what it is.

I've been playing with my ratio a bit. It's a Massimo Baja Warrior MB 200, it came with a 50 tooth on the rear wheel and a 12 tooth on the centrifugal clutch, (I can't recall the sizes of the 2 sprockets on the jackshaft off the top of my head). Initially I went with a 14 tooth clutch but it still would max out the RPM to early and I could only get about 48 mph. Next I dropped to a 46 tooth on the rear which got me up to about 55 mph before valve float occurred and obviously no more RPM at that point so I then installed a 36 tooth rear sprocket which put me at about 75 mph before valve float. I'm now running a 32 tooth rear sprocket, stock jackshaft sprocket sizes, and 14 tooth clutch. I should say that at this same time I went to some 25 lb valve springs which allow the engine to rev out to about 6,500 RPM and I managed to get a two way average of 73 mph (honestly it probably had a bit more in it but I'm still running SunF knobbys and based on watching them free spin with the bike on a lift I think I'm already exceeding anything close to safe by at least 25 mph) With the 50 and 46 tooth sprockets the acceleration was definitely a lot harder. In fact it was brutally hard. As in wheel spin and standing the frt wheel straight up in the air while spinning the rear wheel. And that wasn't even a full throttle launch. With the 32 tooth rear sprocket it still accelerates very strong. Strong enough that a 20 mph roll on with another Massimo Baja Warrior MB 200 next to me (he's running a 10 hp Briggs and Stratton with a torque converter and a governor delete) I'm instantly 5 bike lengths ahead and adding another 5 bike lengths every couple seconds. It will still pull the front wheel off the ground by about 4 inches if I snap the throttle open at 25 mph. However...I cannot take off hard at all, I've got to wait till I'm rolling about 15 mph and then roll on the throttle. If I try to hit it hard from anything less than 15 mph the engine just completely overwhelms the clutch. I've done a couple clutch mods that made it better but I can still make it glow red hot without any effort. Unless someone knows of a clutch that'll actually grab and hold I'm going to have to go with plan B (I've got a 5 speed motorcycle transmission and clutch setup off a Honda Enduro). The engine I'm running is a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard Vtwin 479cc. Originally it was a 16hp but I've done a governor delete, a Kehein 36mm round slide, 25 lb valve springs, a set of headers and a minor port and polish on the heads. I'm speculating that it's around 22 to 24 hp and probably 25 ftlbs of torque. It runs a 1 inch crankshaft. Any ideas about a clutch that'll handle it, and also some street tires that will match the stock size (19× 9 ×8.50 I think) I'd really appreciate it.

You have any videos of that monster??
@oldhillbillybuckkowalski
2 жыл бұрын
@@PAPII247 I've got one I took with my phone strapped to the handlebars that recorded before the carb swap and the 32 tooth sprocket. It's loaded on my FB but honestly the quality really sucks. Between my phone apparently having some issues recording smoothly if I'm moving much faster than the speed of snail, and the wind noise the video looks and sounds very much like I'm reentering the earth's atmosphere and it's not going very well. I'm trying to get some recording equipment to actually start a KZitem channel. The planned content will be mostly how to videos on modifications and repairs on minibikes go carts, as well as some late 70s through mid 90s Honda Xl, SL, XR, motorcycles and some Kawasaki 4 wheelers that I seem to be collecting enough of to qualify as a hoarder. There will probably be an occasional chainsaw (using/repairing) video and I'm sure there will be some firearms content as I have a small shooting range here on my property (out to 150 yards, rifles, pistols, and shotguns). There will be an emphasis on keeping all these projects as low dollar as possible while still getting results that are tangible. I'm no longer able to work a full time job due to health issues and since I'm relying solely on a VA disability check I tend to do everything myself, machine work paint, etc... and I think there are probably some folks out there who may be as broke as I am but aren't ready to give up on having fun, building stuff and riding like an idiot while grinning like a fool. When I was able to work I was a machinist, builder, and mechanic. I have been doing this stuff almost 38 years, spent many years as a engine/performance specialist at a Harley dealership, built engines for some pro drag racing teams (Top Fuel Harley based dragbikes) and spent some time as a research and development technician for Harley Davidson Motor Company, and did a few years restoring vintage raceways. All of this stuff was done with extremely smart and talented men teaching me and I feel that the knowledge these men passed on to me should now be passed on to others who are interested in such things instead of letting it die with me. Of course a significant portion of content will probably involve me doing stuff that's probably not a good idea (like going over 70 mph on cheap minibike tires that are likely at best good for 40 mph, or running myself over with an ATV. That kinda stuff is surprisingly normal in my day to day routine. So if you'd like to see some pictures and video that is not good enough for a KZitem video my FB is under this same name and my profile picture is my beloved Gracie Doggy (RIP) wearing an olive drab Vietnam era booney hat. I have been recovering from an eye injury so I haven't posted much over the last month or so but hopefully there will soon be a video of me on the minibike doing a 70 plus mph speed run as well as showing off the new paint I did a couple weeks ago.

sometimes its worth reading the comments you sir,are a creative monster indeed...a vtwin in a mini....you should make a vid of it. one of the projects i have is a vintage snowmobile engine opposing twin im trying to stuff into a frame myself. for the clutch,have you considered modifying a snowmobile belt tav setup? they take tremendous abuse being hammered by big cc engines yes? ive seen smaller tavs setups too? for the tires,im not sure,im running Dot street tires on 8` solid rims myself,at around 55 mph.

@@BeatersRus I ran one of the generic 30 series TAV/torque converters on the predator 212 that was in the minibike when I got it and I loved it except for one problem, belt life seemed short if you ride hard with sprockets set up for high speed, and the fact that I'm 200 lbs. There are some bigger 40 series versions but after talking to a few people it seems like to get one that will handle the HP and load I'm putting on the drivetrain would be about $400 and I can't swing that on a VA disability check. What I did do was use some parts from a Chinese 4 wheeler centrifugal clutch, and some pieces of the centrifugal clutch I was already running, and ended up with a 1.5" larger diameter clutch that has 3 clutch shoes on pivots and uses a friction material similar to brake shoes. So far no slipping issues and I've put about 300 miles on it. As far as the Snow mobile TAV setups, I had actually considered trying one out but unfortunately where I'm at (south Texas) there aren't many snow mobiles around to pick parts off of and since I know very little about which ones might have parts that would fit where I need them to fit, I was leery of buying anything off the internet just to find out I can't use it. If I could get my hands on some to play with I'd love to try one out. The opposed twin engines are cool, I'm wanting one for a small airplane I want to build, called a "Legal Eagle" it looks kinda like a Piper Cub but smaller.

That is one sweet mini bike @Black66 I think its about time for you to open a shop and do custom builds. I feel confident that you would have a long waiting list from day 1! Now this is off topic however in my quest to reach speeds like you I am plagued with one problem which is out of round/balance wheels. Because you have done so many builds I wanted to ask you if you have ever had any stock wheels that were out of round or warped? The bike that I have been building for way too long is almost complete but my wheels are out of round, even when spinning them by hand it is pretty noticeable. My bike is a Realtree RT200 which is the same as a Coleman RB200, and nearly identical to the Mega Moto 212, minus the front brake and factory torque converter. Coleman sent me out 2 replacement wheels and they seem to be just as bad as the originals. I have replaced the factory tires with some SunF tires and replaced the cheap stock wheel bearings with some quality Japanese bearings but the wheels still wobble bad. Is this a common problem with factory coleman wheels or could I possibly be doing something wrong, or is my luck so bad that I have 4 wobbly coleman wheels?
@Black66
2 жыл бұрын
I've had a couple wobble a little ,but nothing too bad. I did replace the Coleman CT200U-EX wheel with a MB200 wheel from GPS when I did the disk brake conversion on the Coleman. That thing spins true. Maybe you could put some nice aftermarket wheels on there?

Why not run a CVT? I wish someone would build a CVT that had a cable that can allow manual control of the shift of gear ratios, like run full throttle pull the lever, just like a clutch this allows so much travel to roughly equal 2nd gear, repeat, for 3rd, repeat for 4th, again for 5th, and 6th, or keep the lever pulled for full automatic operation, maybe a short lever could be used to get it to down shift, it would be cool if the down shift could work in full automatic aswell, it would be awesome, seems it should not be too difficult to pull off! A latch mechanism to control the rear spring that keeps tension in the belt, preventing any motion past the set 2nd gear ratio, then an additional pull skips to the next ratio, possibly keep going to get back to first gear when stopped, to get to first it would require stopping to allow another pull to get to first, if shifted to 2nd, it would just act as 3rd gear Is the 2nd gear, and do the full auto from take off ratio to 2nd gear ratio, use a ring that thickens With each gear change, locking the spring from advancing the gear ratios, the roller weights would still need to be setup properly, possibly slightly on the heavy side, the ring would require a ratchet and lever mechanism, with a cable and spring, and this would be required to be operated on a spinning shaft, requiring a lever changed to a push pull with the shat, with a Torrington bearing, I'm sure someone else could figure this out better than I can, but a 3-4speed trans , based on planetary gears , that fits on a CVT , that does not require hydraulic pressure like automatic transmissions do, that would be even better! Or even with hydraulic control, if it's not too expensive it would be even better,, but a step above and beyond, would be a 5speed transmission that bolt on to the engine! Similar to a motorcycle transmission , with lever clutch, and lever for gears, 5up or down with a neutral, it should be easy,

Someone please answer because I’m confused he says 75mph with one mod is tht one mod being 40T rear and clutch upgrade because from the looks of it he has plenty of mods done to it from the billet valve to billet crank cover, so I’d imagine he has billet parts upgraded cam etc? Is the “parts list” the parts that’s in the engine ?

It's a cut F@ B pipe. Check out the Mega Moto playlist for the entire build and the exhaust video. I think GoPowerSports has a center exhaust for this bike. kzitem.info/news/bejne/t5iZ1nVmo5aEfKw

Maybe throw a billet rod and flywheel with a 265 or 275 cam and springs in there . There are a couple bikes on the channel that run 70 or better. Check out the parts list in the description of the videos. Thanks for watching !

I need another opinion. My mini bike hits around 45mph (its a doodle bug with a 212) and it feels like valve float is hitting. How big of a difference will 18 lb valve springs make? I also am wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a 50 tooth rear sprocket for a db30

@@MiataMatt I heard the 22lb would grind the cam lobes down more than 18lb. I do long distance riding, so I don't want to get a new cam for it if I don't have to. What setup do you have ?
