I wanted to correct something that I mispoke on. There is actually suspension on the Rion Apex. The Rion Apex uses urethane suspension in the rear that is molded for the specific scooter and rider. The suspension helps in two ways: It helps with vibrations and keeps it stable at high speeds. The suspension is not soft; it is made to be stiff since the scooter is designed for high speeds and tight cornering.

I kept looking at the back of the scooter checking out the swing arm, expecting you to talk about it, I was watching it, and was thinking, that looks a lot like a swing arm for a suspension, I wonder why it would have one if it didn't have a shock of some sort back there, then I thought maybe this is a in between model and they hadn't chosen a shock to go with the system yet, ...I gotta believe at some point they will have a front suspension also, If I were to venture a guess they have been looking for sometime, they just haven't come up with something that meets their performance and quaulity standards yet. Thanks for sharing it, reviews or overviews out there are really sparse.

Hi Marco here, I have purchased a RION a year ago and spent over $6,500. I owned and tried so many scooters and I thought this was gonna be the best of the best only to realized that the product is only a concept, not ready for the public and just greedy for money. My RION experienced several defects and got shipped back 2 times from NY to LA to Gal’s shop without ever getting fixed. Now, after 2 years of repairs, Gal, the owner, and his techs don't pick up calls anymore, good luck with service and good luck with the $6,500. It’s a shit show, put your $6,500 in Treasury Bills and you’ll make 4.2% and won’t have to deal with such a fake product. If anyone wants to buy it from me I’ll sell it for HALF of what Gal says is worth it!

Most scooter companies resell cheap, ready-made Chinese scooters, so it’s easy to charge a premium for slapping on cheap bells and whistles. It’s also more important, since the bells and whistles are what distinguish their resold scooter from another company reselling the same scooter. Although it’s a lot of money to buy RION scooters, the people working there might be too occupied with manufacturing the actual scooter to set up a process for procuring, attaching, testing, etc of bells and whistles on all their scooters. Seems like there isn’t much competition for them anyway, so there’s less need to distinguish themselves

Rion needs to make scooters for different users in bite sized price points. They are cutting costs in many ways like no apps, steering damper, etc and it obviously cannot be flashed so they can make them to order. So it's a win win with *hopefully* better prices and higher volume that increases jobs for Americans, while cutting down the need for cars. I suggest: 45-50mph @ $3k 55-60mph @ $4k 65-70mph @ $5k 75+ is now $6700 Many people don't want 75+ on 2 tiny wheels and would prefer to pay for a Made in USA product that meets people's needs with a great warranty and a competitive price. 75+ on 16" wheels would feel a lot safer and I have owned many motorcycles incl an R1 so I know a little about going fast on 2 wheels.

I'm not convinced, yes it is minimalist and yes it's made out of expensive parts, but does it really need to be, after all it is a scooter. For example: you could take the electronics including the motor and make a much cheaper scooter with a better foot board plus all weather tyres and perhaps end up with a very good scooter that may not go 75 mph but would go decent speeds with decent range, but with more comfort and equal if not better stability at a lower price tag. I see scooters going for high prices, I took an old evo cost 320 pounds, replaced the battery from lead acid to lifpo4 and it doubled the speed and quadrupled the range if not more not been able to test the range properly, needless to say there is no range issue now. So I wonder if all this tech is really needed on a scooter. Do you really need to dial in speed control, surely that's what your throttle is for, speed control should be on your hand the more you open the throttle the faster you go, you get used to controlling the power. It's about your ability to control the power, do I want a computer to slow me down or speed me up? No. Do I want multiple settings? No, that's why I have a throttle, I control the power not the machine. I think some of the scooters are over thought, probably to cater for riders who don't know how to ride, but that just suggests that perhaps they need a ride that is more suited to their ability as riders. I'm not convinced this scooter makes any sense at all with such a high price tag. Perhaps they should produce something with a reasonable price tag with normal equipment but using the same motor and controller, they may sell more.

Gal really represents the definition of combining the American Dream with a smart business model by his collaborations with Voro Motors and Alien Rides. The quality and craftsmanship of Rion Motors products reminds me of what it use to mean to have a product that was “MADE IN THE USA.” While I’m aware that the parts come from different places around the world, you can see that a great deal of effort and dedication was put into the assembly process; a hallmark that once defined American Made products. That very quiet motor sound is because of FOC control in those dual VESC based controllers!!! Lots of stuff you review are possibly running trapezoidal controllers if they are particularly "grunty". All the rest are using dumb sinusoidal controllers. If there is a notch in the middle of the steering which keeps it centred that suggests there is something wrong with the steering, if you have that same notch on a motorcycle your steering bearings are not set up correctly and it needs to be addressed for safety. The steering should be smooth with zero notches or sticking points, if a damper is used it should not hamper steering but smooth out the steering, and stop any snatches. So I wonder about the notch mentioned in the steering on this machine.

Jimmy I rode this a few months ago. I have limited experience riding other super scooters beyond short test rides so I'll ask you and Andrew: at 40mph and accelerating from there on up did the acceleration scare the shit out of you? Cuz it surely did me! I felt it was much more exponential than any other scooter I've tried (wolf 11, king, king GT, storm) but again these were just brief rest rides. The Apex I was able to ride for 10 miles or so...

Not really that great a scooter for that price. The low stem, no suspension, no lights, no kickstand, a steering notch no one want or needs, and small deck makes it quite undesirable especially when you can buy a Nami that doesn't have all these faults and has more range. After upgrading the Nami with equivalent Rion parts like the Magura brakes, the Tronic 250 controllers, and PMT tires you'll end up with a better rounded scooter and no order wait time.
@RussianStyle1987

Before ordering this scooter joint he Facebook Rion groups and do the research. Seems like people paid for their Rion scooter 2+ years ago and still haven’t received them. Seems like the only videos on KZitem of them are from testers and KZitem scooter channels. I don’t think they are set up to mass produce yet. Only safe way of buying would be if they actually had stock to buy.. Look at the Rion groups- people are begging for their money back and threatening to sue. Not a good look for Rion

yes I was in the same boat until a few weeks ago, but the wait is ending now. It's a freakin insolence from them to having left their customers in the dark for such an unrealistic amount of time, especially after their initial claim of excuses like "200 days" and "1year+". It was these claims that made my personal waiting time hell on earth as I had saved so damn long for finally fulfilling my dream - and it got almost completely trashed by their bold claims as I started to get real anti-empathic towards the whole hyperscooter scene - but now, finally, the wait is over and I'm not even really excited yet bc of the after effect this whole story dragged with it.. I would never want to go again through such patience'n'uncertainty hell in my lfe

The Rion seems to be nearing perfection. For me, if I'm taking a high-speed scooter out on roads where I can reach highway speeds, a turn signal at the end of each handlebar grip, a motorcycle headlight, and an integrated are basic necessities. I don't want to lose my phone while going 75 mph, nor do I want it mounted in the most vulnerable area of the scooter should I crash. These are my major issues with this new scooter. We don't all have private mountain passes where we can be away from traffic, so those things (though gawdy) are a necessity to keep myself and others as safe as possible without being lame

I completely agree. If I'm spending money and riding around on anything it needs a headlight and tail light because it's very likely I'll be out at night. Those are literal needs to be built in to any bike or scooter. Of course people can buy lights to clip on or wrap around it, but..really? You shouldn't have to especially at nearly 7 grand.
@jonathangauthier3549
2 жыл бұрын
@@blargh7400 my thoughts exactly. You don't get gouged by car manufacturers to install aftermarket turn signals and stop lights. Cars come with speedometers and tachometers to tell you your speed and RPMs, etc. If you make something that goes as fast as a car, and costs as much as a used car, then build it like a car.
@EssPhour
2 жыл бұрын
I'm actually glad it has none of these things, its a purest scooter, if you feel the need for those things, retro fit them, heck its even an opportunity for someone else that wants to build high end accessories for the Rion. Handle bar signals, and rear deck foot plate with lights would be easy enough for some small machine shop to make, or a 3D printer business. Their are tons and tons of high end light manufactures out there in the hunting and tactical market also, Some one should reach out to them with some business propositions.....I'm not dogging you, I know some people like the complete package all coming from one place and I understand that, I'm the opposite, I like to tinker and customize things.

In the last problem I have with these kind of scooters and the weeped are at speeds of 75 miles an hour where you really gonna do this at and a road in the middle of nowhere because if you do that with traffic you don't know what cars are gonna come out in front of you they underestimate you even on my dual tron ultra 2, I rarely ever do 55 miles an hour I usually do forties because it's a lot safer cars just underestimate how fast you're going and you could lose your life so 75 miles an hour to me is the same as maybe doing a 100 miles an hour it makes no difference once you get up to those speeds if a car doesn't see you that's it it's game over
