78's are the lead sinkers of audiophiles backs and my secret love for audio history just out of tin pan alley.

I live in Richmond, Indiana, (former) home of Gennett records. Any of those?

Glad you saved those 78's, good to see big band, and swing records get some love instead of tossed.

great video and some nice finds in there.. it is noticeable that several records you posted the A sides .. and the B sides were the more popular of the two.. very nice score... lots of those discs right up my street 🎶😊👏👍

I too inherited a bunch of 78's when I bought my house 19 years ago. Mine were mostly rock n roll early songs[Do you wanna dance,Bony Morone, Blueberry hill ] I saw 2 of the ones you exibited that caught my eye. The two by Glen Miller. Nevertheless you got some goodies.

That's weird. Was talking to Glenn L. yesterday from the old RCG Forum and he mentioned a time when he sold you some 78's. Then this video popped up today!

So good to see you rescuing these. I have a box full of my Grandmothers records and I can’t throw them out..I don’t want them and have tried to find someone who collects ,, with no. Luck.. I’m in Newcastle NSW Australia and Can not even find a. Shop wanting them. Not enough collectors. Thanks for the vid. Enjoyed your respect and appreciation for the old records.

How do you remove number stickers from labels?
@CactusCowboy57

There are two kinds of stickers to deal with, those with glue like adhesive requiring Goo Gone or naptha (lighter fluid) to soften and remove. Or the older water-based lick-and-stick style that require water or saliva to loosen. On these records, they were all lick-and-stick style. As I'm washing the records in a sink, the stickers absorb water and by rubbing my thumb on the sticker, it absorbs water more readily and becomes loose enough to remove. It takes a bit of care, too much pressure during removal can result in peeling or damage to the label.
