It must be incredibly gratifying to help a patient who believes they're losing their hearing. Removing the wax or other blockages and suddenly they can hear a pin drop! Talk about job satisfaction ❤️

I used to have eczema in my ears and it was hellish, it was so itchy and I got repeated ear infections because of it. Having steroid drops in my bloody, shredded ears was like fire. Thankfully I've grown out of it but it was horrible.

@@elizabethannfarrow1971 olive oil is great but it does nothing to relieve the causes of the eczema. I used to use it in between flare ups and while it helped it didn't cure me. I'm very lucky, I grew out of it but some people have eczema for life. I don't envy those people.

Brilliant Taylor & Rhys ! I’m so frightened because my mum had an infection of her bone surrounding the ear 50yrs ago . 2 weeks ago she woke up completely deaf, got an urgent ENT referral, no wax no skin , their guess is middle ear ‘glue’ . No steroids sprays have worked , now given nasal spray ! My papa & mama came for Christmas dinner today & she was in tears because she couldn’t understand anything that we were talking about no matter how loud we were shouting, do hearing aids work with profound deathless!

Great to see such careful use of the instruments in those delicate ears. You said this lady was in her 90's and had accepted her reduced hearing as one more sign of old age: what did she say about her hearing after her ears were cleared out? Her ear canals looked so good and I hope her hearing was much improved. Do you routinely do hearing tests before and after such a chronic case of wax and dry skin build-up?

To explain what I believe is the difference in how ear wax removal occurs here in the US, I'm going to rely on my personal experience and clinical training. When I went to an Audiologist - similar to you kind folk - my ears were suctioned. I believe this is based on the level of training these practitioners receive. When I went to my primary doctor with a complaint of stopped up ears, a med tech (who is NOT a nurse) would syringe my ears. Congratulations to the entire AA family for Episode 700!

Did the 90yr old comment on how they felt afterwards? I know with patient privacy there are issues, but if there's a way to get permission to maybe film their response or get permission to quote them, I'd personally be interested in the patient's perspective on what it feels like and reactions to the amount of wax you get out. Thoughts?
