I was in hurricane Andrew , CAT 5, august 92. Always flee if u can. I could not because I only found out about it on the way to my house a few hours before it was arriving and I had no money. It was also arriving full speed in our direction and the freeways were full. Beyond a miracle, my house and car had zero damage. Massive Mexican roof tiles were flying around like toothpicks in the wind. I say always leave if you have time when a storm like this is on the way. The heat after this was 100 plus temperatures and no power. People paid $500 for a bag of ice. Congressmen lived in my area; we had power back on within a few days but in other areas it was over 3 months. Even a year later homestead had no street signs and only a few street lights up. Thousands did not survive despite media saying 74 died; that was not true. Because it was a tourist area they did not report the facts.
