6:05 I understand that it's a restoring force, but I don't understand mathematically how does the minus sign come, since both alpha and r x F are pointing in the same direction.

if you replace the - sin by a plus sign the object will no go back and force. theta will then increase in time if you release it at zero speed at t=0

I could literally see the magnitude of the torque going from a minimum (from inside the paper sheet), then back to zero...then it was extending perpendicularly to the paper sheet toward me (scary!), reaching a max, then going back to zero. I could see the magnitude of both the components of the Torque (not only Tx). In a way, it was like watching this: it.depositphotos.com/35537939/stock-photo-wheels-of-steam-train.html Now i understand it! Thank you Sir!

why is F = mg and not T - mg. Do we assume that the tension is negiligible?

My opinion is the following: If you consider that F = T - mg then of course you must take into account the y component of the tension T_y = Tsinθ, so the equation will be F = Tsinθ - mg and according to the small angle approximation then you have F = Tθ - mg. Using that in the equation you get mgθ - Tθ^2 + ml(d^2(θ)/dt^2) = 0. The term with the θ^2 can be neglected due to the small angle approximation, because if θ
