I was trying Ryan! Hey, 2 mph faster (19 mph vs 17 mph) than the same race last year, I think that is pretty good!

8.29.23 Ed, has been awhile. Good intro on the fellows you ride with. Good start, then let 2 people by. 4 minutes in a lot of guys got by you. Conditions looked good. A few water holes. Sure do like the front and back view and the dots of where the other riders are. Sure do like the quiet of the electric bike over the noise of the gas bikes. There are some good flat areas. Were you wide open, going as fast as the KTM would allow? I guess when you start on the first line there are lots of people behind you. Is the Varg still on schedule? Could be clicking through the different modes as needed. Watched the 1st lap and then had to go. Will watch more later. A few of those places had lots of rocks. Did you get the on Shoot meter counting yet? .Which one of those water crossing was the Whiskey River? Took bout 23 minutes for one lap. Can the battery go 3 laps?

Yes, I like the quiet of my bike as well. I bought 2 new GPS watches for this race (I also have another old one to make 3 total). I asked some of the other racers in my class to wear them so I could get their GPS information. Everyone I asked readily agreed to wear them. I like to get a good start, but I know a lot of these guys are faster than me, so I swung wide after the first turn to let a couple around. I was riding a little more conservatively to avoid mistakes so I did not mind letting people around. I think there was a lot of great footage from the rear camera this time. I like starting on one of the front lines instead of one of the rear ones, it puts me in more of the action and makes a better video. A lot of these guys are super-fast! LOL This was a very fast course compared to most (19.17 mph average rolling time). Most races there may be 1 or 2 places I get to the Electric bike top speed, about 45 mph. That is pretty fast for off-road racing here in the East, so it is not much of a restriction. But for this race there were many times I was getting to my top speed. In some of the field sections I did back off the throttle just a bit because I did not want to push the bike too hard, although I really don’t think it was a real issue. It would have been nice to have the Varg in this race! My delivery date is still Oct 31st on my order page, but I expect that it will be delayed based on hearing other people talk that are in line ahead of me. I have no idea which waterway was Whiskey River. I may need to ask that next time I race there. :-) I was into the Yellow on the battery meter after 2 laps, which meant I was between 20-30% battery (And I don’t always trust the last 10%), so there is no way I could have made 3 laps on one battery. I do have 3 batteries now, so I could have swapped batteries again if I got a 5th lap. My friend Pete made 5 laps, but he is much faster than me. I had to set up my pit area off of the trail since there were so many people, so that cost me a little more time during the race. Lots more good action after the first lap you watched, especially after my battery swap. Let me know if you have any more thoughts after watching the rest.

Great cam video I don’t know how you all dodge those trees so well, and stay in control of the bike, must be a lot of practice. Looks like fun. Dangerous but fun. I’d love to do it. Been a long time.

Thank you! I have been riding and racing motorcycles for decades, so naturally I have gotten good at dodging the trees. Myself and most of the guys I know that race try to ride within our abilities to stay as safe as possible. We say if we made it through the race without getting injured then it was a success! It sounds like you used to ride. You should get out and do some riding again. You only live once! :-)

Yeah, the poor kid was obviously stuck and couldn't get free. It would have been fun to see if I could have held Derrick off until the end of the race since we were going really close to the same pace. But there is always another race! :-)

Great video. Looking forward to running it in September. I was surprised to see how wet it was, for the time of year. Was it as wet in 2022?

Thank you. I don't remember it being wet or muddy in 2022. But I would have to go back and look at my video to be sure. LOL
