Thank you Dr Chopra for being honest and not minimizing it like SOME doctors just because it makes women look more "beautiful " or makes them "happy". First of all boobs can't make you happy.

Women need to stop calling it Breast implant illness, it's an allergic reaction to the implants, if you tell your doctor you have breast implant illness, you Doctor will defend the implant to be SAFE, it's not the implant that's making you sick, uts your body rejecting them. Words mean everything, hope this helps.

When I was chasing my Autoimmune issues trying to find the root cause. I did a Mytox test by Great Plaines Laboratory. To my surprise I had Metal poisoning including NON Metals- which everyone I had is listed on the Implant Manufacture chemicals list of what they are made of, including things like Benzine, Platinum etc. I finally woke up and realized my implants have been poisoning me for 30 years. Lost the majority of my life to vanity and believing doctors that implants were safe.

So autoimmune problems can be caused by implants. My autoimmune problems started about 6 months after I got mine I didn't realize that it could've been what triggered it. I've been wanting my implants removed for awhile now just scared of what my breast will look like after.

This will be bigger than the hernia mesh scandal soon. These surgeons will face the consequences for ignoring their clients symptoms, unless you're getting breast implants for a medical reason such as reconstructive surgery, you ARE just a client. A paying client. The beauty standards propelled by social media is just crazy now, lots of scope for women and men who are riddled with insecurities to spend their cash on for a quick fix. Crazy really.

*POW* PunkOnWhiskey The only thing is that smooth round implants, which are by far the most common type of implant has NO association with ALCL. And in women who DO have textured implants the incidence is 1/2382, which is .0004%. Like Barrett said you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning.

Unfortunately doctors like these although they somehow acknowledge BII, they keep insisting that "it's just SOOOOO rare". They keep saying that the statistics are extremely so low so people just think it's fine, and believe me, it's NOT FINE. This is their business so they don’t want to shoot themselves in the shoe. We need to demonize implants and the unrealistic beauty standards at the same time 😒

Amazing video. I had a b.a performed 7 weeks ago. You guys talked about the lung and the ribs... During my surgery they punctured my lung with the needle in the rib blockage... Three weeks after my augmentation, I had a hydro-pneumothorax and had to undergo a second surgery (emergency) to have a pleural drain inserted... I wasn't told that a punctured lung during a b.a was even a possibility. I wasn't explained nor did I even imagined that could happen. Apparently my doctors never had it happen before either... Sometimes humans make mistakes, but also each body is different.

Dear Barbi Gala, I am sorry to hear about your complication.Every surgical procedure has a risk of complications, no matter what someone tells you. Pneumothorax is a possible complication of rib blockage procedure. I hope you will get well soon. Please stay in touch with your plastic surgeon for further follow-up examinations.

I’ve had many rashes, Hashimotos has worsened, chronic fatigue, hair loss, fibromyalgia, migraines, neuropathy on my right side and ataxia. This all started about 1 year after getting my implants. However, has much worsened after 12 years of having my implants. My implants are smooth. When my surgeon removed them he didn’t want to remove the capsule. I’m afraid that I may not get better if my illnesses have been caused by my implants. Have you had patients with smooth implants that complain of Implant Associated Illness?

I’d like to know about fat transfer!!
@barrettplasticsurgery
5 жыл бұрын
Fat transfer breast augmentation is a viable alternative for women who desire larger breasts without the use of implants. Fat transfer is also widely used in reconstruction of the breast after a mastectomy or lumpectomy. It can also be very effective in correcting the size and shape of the breasts due to genetic problems such as tuberous breast or Poland Syndrome, two conditions that look like misshapen or underdeveloped breasts. In addition, the following scenarios are also reason to consider breast fat grafting: • If you have chest areas that appear creased and sunken • If you desire more permanent correction than is provided by temporary fillers • If you wish to improve your body contour, revise scars, fill bodily depressions and rejuvenate the natural curve of your breasts • To fill in contour irregularities or hide obvious signs of breast implants

Can you talk about what it’s like to get new implants every ten years. Are certain complications more likely? Do you have to incrementally size up? What if you decide to keep them out for good? What will your breasts look like?
@barrettplasticsurgery

I recommend my patients to exchange implants every 10 years in order to reduce the chance of complictions. Generally spaeking, you can use the same size implants. If you keep them for a very long period of time, there is a higher chance of complications such as implant rupture

I have smooth Mentor saline implants in 2006, one implant ruptured in April. I have some symptom that doctor couldn't figure, not sever as some other women. So I decided to remove them completely vs replacing. Any recommended surgeon in TN to do safe and complete removal of capsule on one and en-bloc of other intact implant? All doctors I've heard about, are outside of TN and are very expensive.

finding the right Dr. is extremely challenging especially with the number of online platforms and resources available. There a lot of great Dr's available. Make sure he/she is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Definitely check to make sure your choice specializes in the procedure you want and spend the time to read through patient testimonials. There is a number of different sites where you can check for reviews (Realself, yelp, google, etc.). You can always pick up the phone and call around also, find an office you feel comfortable with and set up a few consultations.

that’s great Dr. Barrett you should do more of this in depth discussion. doc i have a question i’m getting butt implants in a few weeks and my PS only uses textured butt implants because he said that it would really stay in place, should I be scared of this kind of implant for my buttocks?
@barrettplasticsurgery

@@kimberlymontag9333 I would seriously think twice about using implants in general for the buttocks. Complication rates are really high and your butt is a very functional part of your body meaning you sit on it a lot as opposed to breasts where you don't (generally) sit on them. Can you use fat instead like a brazillian butt lift?
