I'm switching from Windows to MacOS and I must say how ridiculously easy it was to setup Laravel Herd. I come from a docker setup called Laradock, it was very popular while back. Another downside to Laragon imo is that it's painfully slow compared to a docker solution, I used to get whole seconds of loading time on Laragon while docker deliver the content in a split of a second.

Interesting note about Laragon having slow page load speeds compared to Docker. Was this on graphic heavy sites, DB query heavy sites, something else? (Curious where the bottleneck might have been.) Also, were you running Apache or Nginx with Laragon? (Apache is the default, Nginx is an add-on option)

@@codewithsusan I was running a admin panel made with Filament, nothing crazy. It was running apache at the time.

@@helderlj Gotcha. Curious to hear if other viewers weigh in on Laragon being laggy. I love it for its easy set up but it's not my "daily driver" so I can't speak as much to performance.

This is soo useful. There are so many tutorials that keep you stuck in "tutorial-hell" with examples far off real use cases and no intentions to ever get it running. Yours are such a shining example and breath of fresh air. Thank you so much!

Appreciate the encouraging comment! Great motivation for creating more content. :-)

@@codewithsusan What is really missing in the tutorial landscape is a guide on how to update Laravel apps in real production environments. Those installations that are left alone until a locally developed update is being rolled out. How to reliably run backups, how to handle beta tests of features either by using feature flags or a staging/beta server etc.

@nym49 Good topic suggestions. I recently had a major server hiccup and was *so* glad to have current backups to rebuild from. Might tackle that in an upcoming video.
