So very grateful Dan's videos like these. I'm a beginner who doesn't get to play much, and cannot afford lessons. But, I bought Dan's book, and made checklists on Release 1 and 2 so far. When practicing, I've already had a bit of success with some of my shots. Very rewarding when done correctly. Thanks Dan!

Get the book! all these guys with their lasers and watches on the course know nothing. All I carry in the bag is Dan's ebook on my kindle. My only complaint is that it makes other people way too jealous of my chipping game. And Dan is an absolute golfing saint. You can put faith in him that no matter where you are in the world, no matter how bad things are going, even if it's you that wronged and it's your fault. If you will but hit the holy release 1,2 or 3, he will say a short prayer of 'get in, amen' to the golfing gods for your ball's safe passage to the hole and to ward off any bogies. The next time you are near a green, give a couple release 1 or 2s a try, you might be surprised at just how quickly good grace comes your way and by how kindly the course treats you. Thank you Dan for sharing your wisdom and your blessings!

Dan, thank you for your teaching. I so grateful to find your videos, I also ordered you're book. Within 3 weeks of 2 x per week of practicing the short game, my playing buddies noticed a difference. Release 1,2 and 3 took a lot of my mental thinking out and made me focus on the execution of the release. what a game-changer.

I watched the Rick Sheils video with Dan. The point he made of not to drive the handle/grip of the club and of swinging longer and slower plus his hinge/release/rotate position has improved my short game a lot !

Finding that Rick Shiels video was a God wink for me. Long video that was the grail of short game golf instruction I'd been looking for. Now I'm a Dan Grieve fan watching everything the man produces. Good post!

Same! I figured this out on my own. So many teachers talk about shaft lean and leading with the hands. This really messed up my chipping and wedge shots. Now, I have my feet much closer together and have a more shallow, rotational swing. Also, tempo is key when it comes to short game and wedges.

@brianschultz7320 Yeah, I remember when I started playing golf, and before I read tips on how to play chips, I never had a problem with chipping. But all that clap trap about putting the ball back in your stance and driving the hands forward ruined my game.

Dan, thanks for these very informative videos. The Caddie Master at a particular golf club introduced me to your instruction after I expressed frustration with my short game and looking for a local coach. I watched your Rick Shiels video and bought the book immediately after. Your short game methods have completely transformed my thinking and approach around the greens. I’m not there yet, but I can see where it is going. Most importantly, the confidence is returning and the all too frequent yips are disappearing. I’d love to see some future videos on playing out of nasty Bermuda lies or even a short game school in the US. I’m looking forward to learning more and becoming a wedge wizard! Thanks again for your help!

General question - the softer the hands, the more the wrists want to hinge naturally while I change direction... Is this just getting more comfortable with a slower backswing on short shots? I've always liked a quicker tempo.

Great video this with real normal golfers! I think the lie is the key thing I’ve learnt from Dan, I always want to play a release 2 as it looks better. However as Dan has pointed out with firm or muddy lies - release 2 soft landing is very difficult to execute!

Hi Dan love you’re videos fella however think the video quality could be a little better 🙏 now I initially thought my Samsung phone quality was poor then I tried my iPhone and to be honest fella it wasn’t any better bud the Video’s always seemed to be into the sun if that makes sense I don’t know if anyone else has commented? As a mid handicap golfer that struggles with his short game visualisation is everything if that makes sense 🙏🙏🙏

Dan, I appreciate your chipping video's they are very informative. My problem with chipping is making good contact with the ball. I have a fear of fat shots, and skulling the ball. How do I fix this phobia and just make a consistent impact hit on the ball....Thank you

Dan, do you have a formula for which club to pick given the flight vs roll distance (like the Rule of 12 chipping ) how many parts flight vs how many parts roll?? Thanks! Love your system! If this is answered in your book I’ll eventually get to it but going through it slowly. My short game is getting much better!! Thank you!!

A thing that he said was don’t pick a club until you assess the lie. My gut says he’d respond with you start there and then have to assess if it’d be a release 1 or 2 next. 3 for extreme cases, too.

Dan, In chipping do you like to see a wide takeaway with very little wrist cock or prefer to see more wrist set? Also what are your thoughts on a long rear arm in the takeaway as opposed to bending the rear arm from the elbow early? Thanks.

Very helpful to see other golfers try the techniques. It looks so easy when a pro shows a new stroke, but the amateurs show how we may go wrong. I really enjoy the Shot Selection tests. That’s really the most crucial part. Cheers.

Great video Dan. I purchased your book and started implementing your techniques and they have worked wonders. However, since I am trying to be more shallow, I’ve stared blading some of the balls. Can you make a video explaining why this happens as it is not very detailed in the videos or the book. Maybe a “troubleshooting” guide of the issues that one might have would be excellent. Either way great content and excellent book.
