The video is amazing But in KiCad 7 assigning netclasses to connection is a veeeery tedious work and for a beginner It drained my energy but i learned a lot in the process i would suggest using KiCad 6 as a beginner

Yes, it's a little tedious but it will help you design a good circuit. It's also okay to ignore it for smaller circuits.

can you make a pcb layout without schematic. as long as you assign nets to components and footprints? or is a schematic always needed ?
@pcbcupid
Ай бұрын
Yes, there are ways to make PCB Layout without schematic, but some features of KiCad might not work correctly without schematics. So, it's always recommended to have schematic for any PCB design. If you have anymore question please drop them in forum.pcbcupid.com

Bro I'm facing a problem in schematic editor When we go to assign footprints and then choose any footprint and go to 'view selected footprint' then there no footprint loads nor in the 3D also. I'm currently using version 8.0.1 Please help.

How do we identify that we want signal or power there? Can you please do a video that clarifies the doubts of assigning it & labelling net class. As I saw in the Kicad 6 version, it was very easy to specify it. but in kicad version 7, is it not possible? So could you please tell me how to analyze it. Thank you

How to assign net classes to the multiple wires at the same time?
@pcbcupid
Жыл бұрын
You can assign net classes only based on net names, so if your "multiple" wires have same net name they will be assigned to the same net class. If the "multiple" wires don't have same net names, you have to do one at a time (there is no bulk edit tool for this) .

What a net? What's the purpose of nets? If it is just wires you have already drawn it on schematic. So why do you have to specifically label wires?
@pcbcupid
5 ай бұрын
Net's are just a way to name the wires, they might not be helpful when making a small circuit. But it will help a lot when making complex circuits with 100's of connections. These are some ways they can help : 1. It is easy to identify where the connections are made 2. Assign different colour / different track size for each net (please check the PCB design rules video) 3. It reduces the work of constantly switching between different track sizes while routing. Copper fills: copper fills reduce the time of etching the PCB and also reduce the risk of over etching the PCB during manufacturing. They also provide a ground plane where you can connect all the ground together.

@@pcbcupid0:40 I am refereing to assigning net class to unlabeled net... the less symbols on a schematic the more readable it is... they have to put - at least - a way to hide the dot also. Same thing with the PWR_Flag... those are needed just by the software, not really part of the circuit. Maybe even an "hide all non symbols" button could do.
@pcbcupid
Жыл бұрын
@@robegatt Got it. Currently there are no buttons or option to do "hide all non symbol". But you can hide net directive label by using the properties panel. Select the directive label -> right click -> Properties In properties -> select colour -> Set opacity to '0' This method can hide the net directive label from the schematic, but still usable on PCB layout.
@robegatt

@@pcbcupid I found a decent workaround... I put all fields and symbol to Not Visible and then in the global schematic preferences colors "Hidden items" to the opacity I want so they can disappear or be shown. An hotkey to do that would be perfect.
