Some facts about 8 Mile - was the number 1 movie in the box office upon release, nominated for 32 awards, won an academy award and a Grammy, soundtrack went quadruple platinum and was also number 1 upon debut, selling 700k copies first week. Lose yourself was number 1 for 12 weeks and was Eminem's first number 1 single, and was the first hip hop song to win an academy award. It was one of only three rap songs from the 21st century to be included on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, being the highest ranked at number 166 and is certified diamond. There's literally like hundreds of essays written about Lose Yourself. It was #1 23 weeks straight which was the record and might still be the record for a rap song. First rap song nominated for song of the year at the Grammys. Got nominated for a golden globe. List goes on and on but what happened with 8 Mile in general is rare as fuck. A superstar musician starring in the number 3 highest grossing movie of the year and producing a quad platinum album with one of the greatest pieces of music in your genre in the movie.

I was gonna add the comment I'm posting below but I'm late and you beat me to it! 🤣 Em actually asked Anthony Mackie if he could put some real life shit in his diss to Papa Doc. Anthony said yes. Eminem delivered. 😂 "Anthony Mackie says, “There was this one day, we were sitting on the set and Eminem comes over and he’s like ‘what’s up man, I was reading a script and there is no reason for me not to like you, you are cool dude, I like you’ and then I said ‘I like you too.’ And then he was like ‘Cool, So you don’t mind if I add some stuff in the script about you? I was like ‘About me or the character?’. He’s like ‘no, no just some character stuff’. I’m like yeah no problem. So before the entire 8 Mile final battle, he googles me and learns about me and all that stuff he basically makes fun of me as Papa Doc. [Laughs] And then I’m like ‘That’s a little personal Mr. Marshall… I grew up in a nice house, my parents were nice to me, why are you making fun of me [Everyone laughs]. He literally walked over and said this gonna be dope.” When it came time to film the final rap fight, Mackie understood Eminem meant to disgrace him on stage by using true material from his life. “So he goes, and his entire battle, the final rap, he Googles me and learns about me and all this stuff,” Mackie said. “And he basically makes fun of me, as Papa Doc. And I’m like, ‘That’s a little too personal there, Mr. Marshall.’” 😂😂😂

This battle is a testament to how Eminem handles real beef. He pretty much says everything his adversary would say so he can’t say shit back. Thats been his approach with most of if not all of his diss tracks

I love watching you guys. I guarantee you Eminem has watched you all. He is the GOAT. No question. He didn't have to act because he lived it. Props to you all for keeping up with Marshall.

fun fact about this last scene. lotto was not apart of the cast. in between shooting these scenes the crowd started battle rapping. the producers and em decided to host a rap battle and the winner would be in the movie. lotto won and got his lil moment to be in 8 mile.

I heard awhile back that Eminem researched Anthony Mackie's real upbringing and used that information for the final battle in the movie. 🥶
