Hi Rachel. I’ve been using Medtronic insulin pumps over 30yrs now and truly understand it takes time to adjust for ‘pump’ living. A couple tips that help me most: 1. Drink lots of water & less fatty foods. 2. Bolus 15-20’ before meals as often as can. 3. Always count carbs to bolus accordingly. 4. When consuming sugar & simple carbs count & bolus before to minimize spikes in BG. 5. Don’t be hard on yourself. You’ll make mistakes but you can quickly correct them with the pump. Wishing you great success and a long healthy & happy life. Thx for sharing.

I'm at about 14 months on the 670g. There are many things I love & hate about the system, but I think many of the things I hate will eventually be ironed out. We are essentially Guinea pigs as this is the first generation of this tech. I think people who have an a1c in the 5 range pretty much don't eat carbs, and are mostly sedentary. If my a1c was 5 and I tried to do anything strenuous I would be hypoglycemic in no time. There are of course exceptions, but my personal goal is high 6, I'm currently 7.6 which is down from 9 when I started. My best tip for anyone on insulin regardless of delivery method is to get your blood sugar in the most stable state for sleep. It's the longest period that you won't be eating or taking a bolus, so the time you sleep has the most impact on your a1c. If you can get that to a stable place the rest of your day is that much easier.

I’ve been on the 670g for almost 2 years. One thing I believe is that auto mode works great for people with a higher A1C. It brings them down but eventually the A1C starts creeping back up. The lack of of basal insulin along with suspends just doesn’t work for me. I’ve been in Manuel mode with suspend on low for over 8 months now and my A1C is 6.1.

I have the exact opposite issue. I need to eat and set a timer for 20 minutes to then give my insulin or I go low

Eating a ketogenic diet is the only way I can keep my A1c under 7.0. The lowest I've ever seen is 6.2 and my endocrinologist's p.a. told me that was about as good as I could hope for with synthetic insulin. I don't know if I should believe her on that because I think I've seen other KZitemrs claim 5.2. Anyway, yes, the struggle is real and never goes on vacation. Sigh! Thanks for the videos. It's good to know how others are approaching this journey.

Teal Elliott it’s really helpful having feedback. I don’t know any other Type 1’s, and it’s been that way my whole life. Which brings my frustration levels to another level. Any input is awesome 👏

Come to think of it, I don't know any other type 1s either (in person anyway). Feel free to contact me anytime. My email is tillypop@msn.com. Also, there's another KZitem channel pumpinainteasy that you might want to check out. But I warn you, she's been through some hard realities.

Teal Elliott I just read your comment now...and I know there’s been a time delay and I apologize. I’ll email you soon. It would be so nice to get to know other Type 1’s!
