Hey, thanks a ton for playing Cupid Story: First Date! The game was really created with not a lot of budget, but we put our hearts into it. ❤ It is part of the Cupid Island universe, and there are two other puzzle games released on it. We're also developing a much bigger, story-focused on it called Cupid Island. It's a farm/life sim. Maybe you can give it a try if you dig this type of game?

I love the Iron Pineapple series and doing that with JRPGs is a great idea! Banchou Tactics and Cesspool look the coolest to me, shame about the weird game play decisions in both though. Answering your question about Magical High School: no, same stat for HP/MP is not common for "mystery dungeon"-style dungeon crawlers games. Usually they have different bars for HP/MP, or didn't have MP at all, cause magic/special attack is used by consumable items. And I play many games of this type.

For the record, I COMPLETELY disagree with you about minigame attacks in RPG's. I find normal RPG's without this mechanic boring, and feel it's almost an essential invention that does so much to keep ANY game with it included to stay intuitive and engaging. Including everything from the Mario and Luigi series of RPG's, to any other game that features it. It NEVER gets annoying, imo, and is always welcome to put more interactivity into RPG combat. I think you're completely wrong of your assessment of this mechanic, especially when you say it "never works". The Mario and Luigi series alone proves that statement flat-out wrong.

The spell casting system in A Magical High School Girl sounds like the one from Rudra no Hihou. Rudra no Hihou (Treasure of the Rudras) is a SNES RPG made by Square during their glory days that never had an official English release. It had a unique magic system where you could create spells by typing in whatever you wanted, although there were certain phrases, prefixes, and suffixes that had definitive effects. It was really unique and it was fun coming up with your own combinations and discovering new Mantras through in game lore or watching powerful enemies. IMO Rudra no Hihou was probably the best Squaresoft RPG that never made it West from the SNES era. Honorable mention to Bahamut Lagoon.
