Also: don't get a manual standing desk with a hand crank. You won't use it since putting it up for 1min will be to much of a hassle (speaking from first hand experience 😅)

Love your video. I have been scouring the web to find a power sit-stand frame that would support a table top 24" deep and 28" wide, as my work space is extremely limited, not allowing for a table top any wider than 28". I am very surprised that no company makes a pair of dual-power stand-alone legs that have no center cross brace, or at least a center brace that is adjustable from 24 or 26 inches wide up to say 36".

One very important thing is the minimum height of the desk surface. In many cases it is too high for short users. Same goes also with too low maximum height for tall users. Those features vary substantially between different manufacturers and models.
@mikelward
4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I bought an Autonomous on a friend's recommendation. Its minimum height is 29.5", which is too high to use as a standing desk for anyone under about 6'2".
@mplovecraft
3 жыл бұрын
@@mikelward I'm not following. I'm 6 feet, and 29 inches is halfway up my thighs - around where my hands are if let the fall to the sides while standing up. That would be much, much too low for me as a standing desk. It's even slightly too low for me sitting down.
@frankdangelo5901

Yeah, I’m with MP… I’m not following. These desks are made to be used for both sitting and standing. I’m having hard time believing any of these desks wouldn’t go low enough for just about anyone to stand while using it.

minimum height is obviously for the sitting position...
@dmmhdm

@@tili_ Yes, and for shorter users the minimum height of the table is too high for sitting position. So each user should know if a certain model/make has a suitable height range for his/her case.

"The health benefits of using a standing desk is no longer debatable" - actually the health benefits, if any, are far from clear.

Honestly, what really matters is the ability to move around. Standing desks don't really have much more benefit if you're standing largely motionless.

@kevind5044

Yup. Seems like moving around, neither sitting nor standing still, is best. And really, isn't being active more fun than being still anyway?
@Josh-pw1gh
3 жыл бұрын
@@AlexSuperTramp- don't think it as sitting vs standing. It's being motionless vs moving. If you are standing but you are not actually moving (which what happens when you are working) then there isn't much difference between sitting and standing. These are kinda proven with medical studies. I'm saying kinda because medical studies are still far from complete and quite contradictory regarding health benefits of sitting vs standing. What doctors agree on is that best method is to move. Walk around, strech, do yoga poses as you work. Some sort of movement in every 20 mins is the advice. I don't have a standing desk, but been searching and watching medical channels (of actual doctors) regarding the benefits. But precise height adjustment for elbow and wrists, plus moving around is easier when you are standing might make standing desks more desirable.
@Josh-pw1gh

@SIG and it will cause other problems. Instead of trying to prove someone online. Go and read medical studies that have been done on this. You are looking at a single problem that is caused by inactivity. This is done to mitigate a medical problem and you say this has nothing to do with medicine 😂

Yes, please bring more content about standing desks, as I am very interested in purchasing one. Is one's height a factor in the type of standing desk one should purchase? I don't remember if you touched on that in this video.

Height is a factor and something you should consider when purchasing a new standing desk. This isn't something covered in the video, but we do have a calculator you can use to determine the proper standing height: bit.ly/30VVKFa. If you have any questions related to height and selection, I would be happy to help. - GK

Do these desks come standard with the option to add casters or just specific makers/models?
@JasonTaylor-po5xc

If you order directly from the desk/frame maker - they often provide an option to add casters through their order process. However, the same desk ordered through an online marketplace like Amazon rarely offer these options unless included as part of the package.

I've recently turned down a job offer as a sales agent for Google. Very well paid. But... I can never be what I do not like seeing in others. For example this guy here, he's talking to sell. And I can hear so much bull from him that I'm outraged. I'd rather die poor than be one of these people.
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley

Talking to sell isn't so bad, but it does have to be done the right way. I watch a channel called JetPens which imports a lot of stationary (stationery?) mostly from Japan, but they have some stuff from Korea, Hong Kong and Germany as well (and I'm sure a few other countries, though the bulk of it is Japanese). Their videos are advertisements, of course, but they show the practicality of the items, such as a heavier mechanical pencil that is good for those who get hand cramps from pressing too hard with a pencil. I indeed do get hand cramps and write too hard, so I got the pencil and it definitely is now my favorite of any I've owned. Another video talked about lead breaking with pencils and suggested a pencil that has a small cone that sheaths the lead as you write, making it harder to snap the lead. I got that one, too, and I'm quite impressed with it. I know when I watch their videos, they're selling me on something, but the hosts of the videos are genuine fans of stationery and the items the website has, but will also be honest if it's better to go with a brand of something not on their website for a certain need. They come across as friends as opposed to pushy salespeople and this has garnered them a lot of respect and trust. For you as a salesman, if you weren't in love with Google, it would've been really difficult to be a salesperson for them. It would've only been a job, but not one that you loved. The JetPens people truly love what they're selling (most of their employees were already customers, which is awesome), so that's why the community doesn't mind that they're "talking to sell" to us.
