There's some serious funk going on in that bass line.

Wow! This is really something! Very cool indeed. I used to own a Dean Rhapsody 8-string for several years. An excellent bass. But, hearing this style of music played on it makes it seem just that much more versatile. Thanks for posting this.

DAMN Steven, always loved your playing on the famous albums back in the old days but I'm completely digging this tune.. the playing is so inventive and I love the tone you're getting from that bass. Wish I could get a scooped funk slap tone like that from my hag hb-8.... I'll have to mess with different amps. Nice vocals too :-) keep on being the creative mastermind... we're all loving the music

Steve - I took immediate note of your playing when I first saw the video of live Weird Al show c. 1999 and I was able to see you in person in Myrtle Beach in 2000. Excellent musician. BTW check my vids for my own 8-string demo.

Steve Jay sings very nice. Especially when he's not with Al. He sings in a more melody like voice instead of a bass voice he usually uses for Al's albums.

Eight strings? That's TWICE as many as a regular bass! Of course, I guess I never really thought about it, we do have ten fingers, so that leaves two left over. Yup, makes sense.

How in the world do you manage to lock the groove in the pocket while maintaining what seems like 3 counter melodies? I'd like to spend 10 minutes in your head.

With a real drummer, this could be great. Drums and bass are integrally connected. Each makes the other better.
