The last time I did a return USPS wouldn't take it without absorbant material and a second box. I had to go to UPS. Still cheaper than anywhere else. I was also at a different USPS office than I normally use. Gonna give Pirateship a try.

That’s really odd I’ve had zero issues at the local post office, doing a pickup like this also avoids the questions. And honestly don’t know why they would even care people send oil back all the time for analysis with blackstone or amsoil…

love the video although one thing stood out to me and that is the engine oil used is a 0w 20 though it can be used the recommended oil to use is 5 w 40 with the vw 502.00 specification is recommended due to the additives in the formulation and engine tolerances for smooth operation and longevity for my gen3 ea888 tsi i typically use liqu molly proline engline flush and than use their liqu molly 5w40 euro blend with the 502.00 specs with a fresh filter

This is a 21. They changed it in I believe 18-19 to 0w20 for fuel efficiency reasons iirc.

I can do my oil change, 6 quarts VW 502 00, Mann filter for $43 all acquired locally. I think that’s pretty good. I’m on the west coast and I think shipping would be a little more for me.

So shipping from fcpeuro is generally free, the shipping back to them id look into pull their address and run it on pirate ship with the dimensions in my video and see. If it’s cheaper than your 43 bucks no reason to not, this doesn’t just apply to oil but everything you get from them. With the only exclusion being aerosol stuff cause you cant bottle that back up to send to them.

So I did a quick one from Los Angeles to fcp and was only 26$ so saving you almost 20$ going this route. Up to you tho.

@@DADM0DE that’s not bad. So I would just pay full price for one once the credit comes back.

@@workingmanaudio2754 so you actually pay full price on the first. Full price on the second, but when you send the first back they will credit your account. So after that you’re only using the credit and cost of shipping it back. This used to be even better when PayPal had free return shipping. So could purchase with PayPal then return it for free. PayPal would cover the shipping but they stopped doing that middle of last year sadly but this is still a great value.

Why would you do this instead of the drain plug? Curious about this.

This has been a thing for a very long time many dealerships and quick service places do this. To avoid oil pan or plug claims. Some newer cars don’t even have oil drain plugs and it has to be extracted. Some cars don’t even have dipsticks anymore. For me it’s a personal preference I don’t have to roll the car on ramps and crawl around on the floor. It takes longer to clean up than it does to extract it.

@@DADM0DEgotcha. It make sense why a lot of them will also put the filter higher in the bay. I have a mustang so I would have to lift it no matter what. But was interested in pros and cons

@@Taino5.0in your case I think there are some companies that make filters that are meant to go 2-3 oil changes without being changed. I know amsoil makes one like that, not sure for your specific application but I’ve heard of it. There are a lot of guys even in my platform that do it by draining every 3-4th oil change just to check for other things under the car. It’s never a bad idea to drain it the regular way. I swap to track and autox wheels/tires multiple times a year so I can look at that stuff when I’m changing wheels and have to jack the car up for that reason.
