@HammerBack0 /02 nice! Which Trauma Concussion amp did you get? That is one amp that I have never heard a single person say anything bad about! I have a Trauma Concussion Series 3k myself. I done like you said you did, I bought it right after I saw Big D do the dyno vid of the smaller Trauma (thinking he tested the Concussion 2k amp in that video, correct me if I'm wrong). I've been thinking about buying one of the 4 channel Trauma amps. I think Steve at Amp Meds done a GREAT job on the Trauma amps BUT I wish he'd atleast added a clip light on the bass remote! 😔

@minus3dbintheteens60

I actually bought an 8k just to run my dual 4ohm single 12" (roughly 3ohm after rise) for the efficiency. It was cool to play around with even being able to run the sub coils in series with that much power available. Although I was using 3kw rms class AB before, I thought I'd try out not only having more power on tap, but at roughly the same power draw. My personal downside was the SQ degraded noticeably.
@Jamez84

Taramps makes a MD3k in a 4ohm version that make 3000 RMS @ 4ohms. They also have a 1ohm and 2 ohm version of that amp. They might have a 4 ohm of the MD8k I'm not sure. But I've done what you're describing in the past of running an amp at 4ohm until I got a 2nd sub then running at 2ohm and doubling the power by halving the resistance.

@@MrV1NC3N7V3G4 Yeah I never went competition I only had my system for me. They're old now and the electrolytics are drying out on them. So I'd probably have to get them recapped. My brother had a 250 HCCA I bought it for him as a present. I believe it's still around somewhere. I really like that old crossover the 30 DB LP. But it uses the five pin for the phantom power you know. I guess I could still use it if I could take one of the cables and convert it to RCA or something. Who would have thought that Taramps would improve so much, I remember that 10 or 12 years ago, this manufacturer did not deliver what it promised, not even at 60hz let alone 40hz. That's why their audience ended up being just electric trio (systems that play loud, above 50hz). Yes, I would run an 8,000 watt amp to my subs. I have a pair of Digital Designs supercharged 9500K 10" subs with ESP and the amp would be perfect for it. The subs are rated for 2,000 watts RMS and bursts of 8,000 watts but I believe the 2,000 RMS rating is super conservative. I have given them 2, 500 watts RMS and they could have taken way more power than that, I would be happy giving them 4,000 watts each but I need to switch to LTO batteries because it would take way too many AGM batteries to power the amp.

8k is a lot of power. Even at 90% efficiency you would need multiple batteries and at least one 400 amp alternator to resupply the batteries. 2 would be better. Thanks for testing. Out of my league.

I'm Really On The Fence About These. I Need A Lot Of "Power" For My Set Up. My Systems Wired To 0.5Ohm 2 12s And It Rises Up To About 6Ohms. My DD M5 Actually Does About 3,000 Watts At 6Ohms Which Is Better Then This Taramps 8k Given 4Ohms It Does 2500. All Sub Rebuilders Show Coils And Say "That's A Brazilian Amp" So That Keeps Me Away Too. What I Plan To Do Is Wire Each Of My Sub In Series And Then Parallel Together At 2Ohms (dual 2 ohm subs). I Want To Run Them At Series So The BL Is The Highest (more windings in the gap) To Get The Most Effiency Out Them, Or At Least That's The Idea haha. Going From 0.5 Ohm To 2 Ohm Probably Means Even More Impedance Rise So I Need A Massive Amplifier To Make The Power I Want. I'm Thinking Maybe A 12K 2Ohm Taramps But I'll Have To Do More Investigation On These Amps. Plus I Need To Find Out For Myself If Running The Subs In Series Is Even Worth The Trouble If You Can Just Throw More Power At It At Lower Impedance To Make Up For It... hahaha

But I was gonna run one Hutchinson Audio neodymium ndfeb-18 in a custom 6th order (with battery bank) or a Deaf Bonce Apocalypse db4518 on the HCCA 3000 or a Salt 4. With this amp I could run two subs, but box volume would be too much, would have to scale back to 15s or 12s.

I personally love Taramps. I've had my amp for 2 years now with no issues. I run it hard every day on a pair of 10"s running 1500 watts RMS per subwoofer. Some people give these amps a bad rap for being Brazilian, yet they are loads better than any China amp I've seen. The quality is close to a Korean build in my honest opinion it seems to be as well built as my old Sony xplode amp that is nearing 20yrs old and still works. I think these amps can last if properly mounted, connected and supplied power. I've seen guys dogging the cheap amps from Brazil, when they were giving it horribly low voltage. A 3k RMS system needs a 2nd battery and a 370amp alt. You can run a 3k system with a 120amp alt and a single small battery but its stressful on the amp, battery, alternator, and will clip way harder and way sooner than it should. You want an amp to be supplied with as much power as possible without going over its voltage rating. Giving a Brazilian amp too much voltage is another thing people can do and the amp gets a bad wrap for it. Some amp can handle an 18 volt lithium setup, but feeding 18 volts to an amp that tops out at 15volts will smoke it. Some people think it gives the amp extra power. It's not nessicarlilly true. Often a higher voltage delivers more current to an extent. When the current needed is pulled to its limit voltage drops while trying to give the current needed. When a car has double the current needed at the cars operating voltage then voltage won't dip and the power output is increased. If you got a car where the lights dim when the speakers hit, the solution isn't to increase the voltage to 16. The solution is to add a battery or increase the alternator output by size or addition or extra alternators. In truth all cars have a weak underpowered electrical system from the factory. I've never seen a car run worse or lose power from having a bigger or more alternator added to the car. I've always seen it improve the car's operations, charging, and starting.

I think taramps is great for the price tbh, they have a few weird things with them but for the most part they are pretty great, and you wanted to hear our prjects, so I got a soundqubed u1 8k powering a single sundown x12 that has the 8 layer coil, stiff surround, and spl cone, but if it doesn't like that power which i expect it to i will probably sell it and buy 2 sundown x10v3's build a 6th order box for them and see how that goes, a little extra amp is better than not enought though. to go with that i got a soundqubed u4 x500 that will run my doors/ rear quarter panels, im fiberglassing the doors here soon so ill have 3 skar mid 6.5's and a super tweeter in each of the front doors (its a coup) then im running a 6.5 mid and super tweeter in each of the rear quarter panels, the mids will be ran in parallel and the tweets will be ran in parallel, i got a dsp and caps to make sure i dont blow the tweeters out and everthing shoudl go pretty good, cant wait for this quarter of school to be over so i can get some time to finish it!
