Telling lies do hurt us inside and we have to get it out eventually. I’m glad you had the opportunity to do that. I know the feeling. We can never get away with it. Thanks for the story on this dark and dreary day a year later. I’m glad you’re sticking to not getting your ears pierced if you don’t want to. They are all pretty. ❤️

Hi Pat! I agree with you, there are times when little white lies are needed. When it’s really better than the drama. You make my day when you come one and share your life with us. I am trying the sour cream in my hamburger the next burgers I make. I add a touch of sour cream in my cole slaw! Love the earrings too. Take care of yourself; we need your humor and truthfulness. Love, carson.

You are amazing. So glad you didn’t hurt your head. Be careful. Last Oct 24, I tripped in my garage and fell backwards on my back side and head. 2 days later I went to ER and found I had a brain bleed. Was in Intensive care 2 x with BP so high. They got it down both times and my bleed healed on its own and neurologist released me on 12/23/22. Scary time. Your hamburger sounded so tasty. Will make me one.❤

Granny Pat, I love your stories, and the one about the sliding glass/screen door at the villa made me remember something my Father said to me many years ago after I accidentally hit the screen door at our house with my head. It really hurt, and I’ve done it a few more times since then. He said, “Did you hear about the fellow who ran into the screen door? He strained himself.” The image of screen straining a person like a sieve really struck my funny bone for some reason and it also made me cringe. I am so sorry that you hurt yourself when it happened to you, it’s easy to forget when our minds are elsewhere. Please tell Jan that I collected some purple shell fragments at the beach in NC about 25 years ago. Sending some sunshine your way.🔆

I love your story...not that you fell but your whole story is so entertaining -I can imagine them all roaring with laughter bc of the way you described it LOL. My mother could cook well but taught my sister more than I. I had to learn the hard way...but now I agree with you about making your 'own recipes' -they are always fresher and that makes all the difference. The older we get the more important FLAVOR is! I also like the way you talk about 'finding something in your full fridge' -me too that is how I like my fridge...possibilities. So happy to 'get to know you' thru your videos. You may not realize it but this project or 'work' that you're doing is so important for preserving /documenting every day life (with a twist of humor thrown in!). Congrats, & may you never be alone when you have all of us waiting for a new, storytelling 30mins to connect together. Keep filming! -love from Chicago

I loved your story. Back in the late 1950s we had one of the first sliding glass doors in our county. Most people had never seen one back when my parents built a new custom designed home. Our sliding glass door was walked into over and over. My mom, who had a peculiar sense of humor taped a hand drawn and colored STOP sign to it. When the school bus would pull up to our house kids would rush to the front of the bus to watch my brother and I roll the door open and closed. The door wasn't on the front facade of the house, there was an exterior room so it was set back 15 ft inside a covered porch with a door into the garage on one side and a huge picture window into the formal living room on the other wall. That heavy steel, sliding door is still in use today. They don't make them like that anymore. I make burgers same as you, but I use heavy cream in place of sour cream. I got that idea from old meat loaf recipes that called for a little can of Pet milk. Also, I found a fairly safe mandolin slicer so I can get my onions and pickle slices super thin to top my salads and burgers. It's a throw-away item that wouldn't be easy to sharpen. I bought my aunt's restaurant supply mandolin at her estate sale, but there are no safety features, so I often nick a finger when I use it. As always, this video was entertaining, and I got the comedic angle too, since I saw so many people walk straight into our door. I don't blame you for keeping your mistake a secret. Some people will sue over injuries like you experienced. That's why I don't rent my northern NM mountain cabin on Air B&B. Liability of unsupervised children falling from the rock embankment 50 ft above the rushing river, not to mention drunk adults falling from the 15 ft high, huge back deck.

Good story! My son’s friend was in a mall. He started to go into a small department store. They hadn’t opened the huge slidin glass door yet. He walked directly into the door. It was shattered. He was just embarrassed to tears.

Once when I was 9 we went to Florida and I had an older brother and a little sister close to my age and when I saw the ocean I ran straight towards the balcony into the glass door. I must have bounced three feet back. My brother and sister almost died laughing while my parents were just glad I didn’t go through the glass. It hurt but looking back it was funny. Thanks for the story. Great video.

Hello Pat! I swear if you try sharp cheddar you wont go back to Velveeta which is not real cheese at all. American cheese is not real cheese either and only one ingredient away from being plastic! I use cheddar or Monterey Jack which both are real cheeses. Give it a try :) BOTH make the best grilled cheese or anything that calls for cheese!
