I'm the same age and also ski. The technique is not lost, but leg strength is less, so I ski carefully and with less speed. My biggest fear is kamakazees with little control. A collision would end it all and these kamakazees think they know what you are going to do next. That is why we ski on flatter runs (or steep enough that kamakazees realize fear).

Avoid skiing during peak season, holidays or weekends. If on weekends, then at night, where there is lighting. I do this, even though I’m still younger.

As a 65 yr old about to head to Val Thorens with my 29 yr old son ( can’t wait), I’d love to have 20+ yrs more!

Im in my 50s and still snowboard, but I know whats probably going through his head. He knows he could shred harder. However even one simple fall is likely a life changing event. So exteme conservatism is required as you age. Thats my story (maybe an excuse, lol).

Shoot. I didn't get that memo. 60 and still hard charging on a ridiculous pair of Atomic Metron EX's. I'm not stoked that the season is rapidly winding down where I'm at, but it's time to get back to flogging the mtb on the local peaks, ramping up the trail running mileage, and getting back to the Grand Canyon for a few runs.
