Went over to read Joy-el's comments yesterday and half of them still want to stay stuck, still want to stay sad or negative about something. Some people are just like that. I noticed our society as a whole has people popularizing that same weird, stuck mentality across other areas in life. It's exhausting. I totally understand lifting the lid off taboo topics and feelings, long running hidden issues but after that, then what? I'm not a happy clappy person myself lol but fighting to stay miserable and coming up with a new "fight" against you - "density discrimination" IS lacking accountability. Yeah, you might have a hand in your own misery that suffocates yourself. They want a pity, anger fueled echo chamber. I'm half asleep so I hope what I wrote is clear enough lol.

This. This whole comment. As a fellow non “happy clappy” person myself, I refuse to be miserable. I refuse to be a victim. I’m not one to avoid difficult conversations; as someone with 4c hair, our type is most definitely discriminated against and uncelebrated outside and within the black community, but I refuse to believe that my hair is some burden placed on me. Going natural has done wonders for my self esteem, and it irritates my soul to see so many black women not only sip on the same bs koolaid they’ve been fed their whole life, but to teach it to other black women.

Joy-el def has a point. However, she had has had her own struggles with her hair and accepting her hair in the past. She’s in a place where she has accepted her hair for what it is. I think Star Puppy is still learning that and it’s okay to express her frustrations about her hair sometimes. Personally, I watch Star Puppy for entertainment. I like her quirkiness and creativity. I don’t look to her channel for serious hair content. People need to stop focusing so much on hair type and emphasize hair health and needs.

i agree. i still watch StarPuppy because of the uniqueness of her videos but Joy-el is right about her needing to take accountability for continuing the trend of self-deprecation and setting herself up for failure (even if she doesn't do those things off camera and is doing healthy hair practices). if she keeps making those types of videos i may stop watching.

Joy-el spittin. I think one of the underlying reasons why the KZitem girls with tighter coils aren’t getting the brand sponsorships (and therefore the lack of representation of this hair type in media) is because the majority of their natural hair content is just them speaking negatively about their hair or quite literally fighting it (I mean starpuppy literally has a her vs. shrinkage series, and it’s depressing). What’s more, their comments sections are loaded with other women (and girls 💔) with the same textures also speaking negatively about their hair because the space those youtubers have created allows for this to take place. Now why would a company choose you to promote their brand when all you spew is hate and discontent for your hair constantly and most of your engagement is discouraging? It’s just so bad vibes and I personally don’t wanna absorb all of that energy

You will get there. I'm sure she has her insecurities that's she's working thru like we all are. We just have to learn not to make ourselves a slave to them. Take one day at a time to make yourself go out into the world embracing the thing that you are afraid that everyone will notice about you. The more you do it, the less you will pay attention to people's thoughts and opinions. Make yourself your own priority! You can do it!

@@AfrikanHairGod omg thanks so much! It's really a process! I've been slowly slowly learning my hair and styles. I did also recently wear my hair out which is huge as I used to be very nervous about it! I'll definitely remember this!

Oh no all of that oil and a pressing comb means burnt hair. It doesn’t look like it’s working. That hair is going to get dry and break off. This poor lady.

Accept your hair...grow up...leave the past in the past...before it starts to negatively effect the little girls if it hasn't already.

I'm not a native English speaker, but for some reason the name she gave her hair, "Fluff nugget" always rubbed me the wrong way. Even the idea of giving my hair a name like it's a pet or something outside of me instead of being part of me. The name fluff nugget does not sound very flattering, glamorizing or complimentary, (even the sound bite she uses when her afro "speaks" to her, sounds like a turkey) but again English is my third language, so maybe it sounds cute or normal to a native speaker.

No it is not cute to me. Maybe if I was 4 years old. Maybe.

I only see people with relaxed or straightened hair getting pixie cuts. Is pixie cut not a feasible style to do on natural hair. Is tapered cut usually more flattering? Just curious.

You can't get a pixie cut with short natural hair... It just turns into a twa

@@AfrikanHairGod oh right because of the shrinkage...is pixie cut for natural hair is basically just a twa haha.

People would rather marinate in self hate rather than learn to love themselves… so strange. “I hate my natural hair” videos are annoying asf and make black people look bad in general

Your coca cola video. The first time I saw it, I literally lost it when you started sweeping. It took me OUT! 🤣
