This is the interview We all wanted, and, now, have. Thank-You, Brad, and Thurston. I'm almost halfway through Thurston's memoir book, and it is absolutely thrilling, wondrous, revelatory, and revealing. It is like being able to walk through the time, place, and scene, and experience it all. Thurston is a very good writer.

Kids could form bands at a younger age in LA because they still lived at home. The people who lived in NYC had to work jobs to pay rent so they were older.

There are a lot of record collectors and obsessives that have the same knowledge as Thurston, but what makes him so fuckin cool is his compulsion to share and propagate that knowledge. This was a sick interview, thanks for it!

You can recognize his voice, i don't know what you're talking about plus he's over 60 years old so let's hear how you sound if you make it that far.

I wouldn't say unrecognizable, that's a bit of a stretch. Aside from what others have mentioned i.e. the inevitable change in anyone's voice once they reach a certain age, there's also the other very obvious thing, which is, of course, he's a singer and singer's voices tend to become hoarse frequently due to all that, um, well, singing.. haha..

My beloved musicians. Sonic Youth. Without them art would be soooooooo poor. Almost like an orphan. There is this universal cosmic force that drives them being honest in their art and super creative. Hugs from Greece. Much love and respect to Thurston, Lee, Kim n Steve.
