Amen to that!!! I haven’t listened to the radio since 1983 because what they play is not my idea of “music”. Talented performers - yes, but I don’t care to listen to it. NOTE: My comment is edited to acknowledge that the music that has come out since 1983 might be your cup of tea, but it isn’t mine.
@TheOGSticks11

Lol, what? The groove is solid, especially at an advanced age. But, this music originally was viewed as too loud, too unrefined. Now, it's great because it isn't as refined and produced as modern computerized music? Seems like a swinging door. Plenty of current Artists have been incorporating Americana music into their stuff. You just refused to hear it.
@George_Davies

@TheOGSticks11 Couldn't have said it better myself. Also, there's tonnes of great contemporary jazz, blues, classical out there... But even that is outside of the atmosphere of those people that listen to music whilst full of nostalgia and judgement.

@ImOnAJourney

@@nickphaux I have a different ear than you do, that’s all. In my heydays as a musician, I played charts from the 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s. Everything after that is not my kind of music. Sure, absolutely, there have been fabulous performers come out of the 1980’s and following. Musicians who REALLY know their instrument, and who are incredibly talented. I just don’t like what they are playing. Fair enough, you and I have different opinions. I no longer listen to the radio, you listen to the radio all the time. I’m glad you like what you hear and that it entertains you. I’ll amend my other comment to acknowledge that we all have different musical tastes. I hope that will satisfy you and others. This is actually Albert Tootie Heath one of the famous Heath brothers. The other Heath brothers are Percy Heath who was a upright bass player, and Jimmy Heath who was a tenor player. Tootie Heath was famous for playing with Dexter Gordon in Copenhagen where a lot of black musicians went on hiatus to escape the racist Jim Crow south. Tootie Heath passed a couple of months ago but gave us a gift in the form of an immense recorded catalog of his playing. Roy Hanes is equally as great but is still alive today.
