The funny thing is just yesterday I got my planar IEM and I can locate the source no matter if it is noise or single note , short or long :| I thought 8d as a pure joke until I got my IEM. Some mix are really good some are just rubbish, but given the right mixing skills and tech it really works ! Thanks for spreading the wisdom!

Thanks for some great content, seriously under appreciated, but also it seems, quite niche.

8D audio is, as I understand, a post-production affair. I am a fan of true binaural audio when original sound is recorded on two channels with specially designed binaural setup that, for the best result, requires the use of a real dummy head with mics placed at entries to ear cavities. Please get in touch if you have questions. I made my first binaural recording in 1980 in London. It was a rehearsal by Alexei Khvostenko with Yuri Stepanov on guitar before the actual studio session for an album ‘Farewell to Steppe’ - ‘Прощание со степью’. Now I deal with live music recordings in DSD128 format using Korg MR-1000 and a pair of SeElectronics RNR1s. These large ribbon mics are so much better than small omnidirectional mics required for binaural recording that I am forced to stick to this pseudo-stereo sound from this pair of figure-of-eight transducers. l must add that the setup I eventually found most useful does produce very natural, realistic soundstage and is suitable for listening through both stereo hi-fi systems and headphones. I prefer listening with headphones through iFi Audio converter/headlamp - Micro iDSD Black Label to be precise.

It's actually really really really good with mashup remixes 8D audio I have produced some new mixes recently I can't post them on KZitem of course cuz I'm not trying to copyright it I post them someplace else but the mixes come out really awesome much better than just putting them in 2.0 stereo or any of the other audio options

Hey there! The Acoustics part was super convincing to listen to. I could easily make out every direction on headphones. This made me wonder, what ambisonic VSTs (and what level of order) you specifically used in this case to get the "8D" sound? I'd love to recreate this effect! Cheers!

The demos were done with DearVR and rendered directly as binaural, so not tied to any specific Ambisonics order.

8d audio is a joke, add a reverb plug-in is 8d? Why not 9d, 10d, and some say 16d. This is a complete fraud. Now the world is only 3d. many people so-called "8d" is actually only 2d.
