I've driven all drivetrains all my life and I realised it's pretty fun to drive FWD cars no matter what they say. They're bullshitters. I don't believe what they fucking say. Some FWD ones are real bad ass.
@--LZ---
3 жыл бұрын
That's also probably because maybe like 500 out of those 700 kg are up on the front axle... ofc that balance changes with downforce but still you'd want a front wheel drive to slightly oversteer so the rear wheels get some of that good old slip angle .

Most FWD race cars go for like a 60-40 front weight bias. The reason those back tires are squiggles are because the FWD platform typically will use INSANE spring rates and bars on the rear to combat the understeer nature of the platform and about 50% of turning the car in corners is done by getting the rear to pendulum. You pretty much need the rear to brake loose on every corner you have to decelerate for. FWD racers need and can afford to let the back go wild since the front wheels are doing the pulling and braking and for most of the wiggles its just throttle on through with the car self correcting. You also want a ton of aero on the rear wheels to make sure the back stays planted in any sort of high speed otherwise the second you lift then the spring rate craziness will kill you and the rear will never correct once youre back on the power. FWD race cars are a mix of very RWD on throttle/high speed, Mid Engine on lift off, and FWD point and shoot hell everywhere else

@@jareknowak8712 On asphalt the lightness of a FWD will require an AWD to be quite a lot more up in power. A well tuned FWD like this integra is hard to beat just because of that. IMHO lightness > AWD and for this reason at least on less slippery surfaces I think FWD is up there with AWD, and RWD comes next. AWD and FWD will switch places depending on the surface, RWD remaining the last in all rallying or hill climb competitions, unless they are also some crazy light cars which we've seen around here.

When you have that gigantic diffuser + wing combo and still you have oversteer on high speed... Could be obviously a benefit of a front wheel drive car to slightly oversteer so it can rotate but man that just looks scary. I guess that's what happens when you do a massive weight reduction and the bulk of the weight is up front with the driver and the drivetrain... I bet this car can do massive FWD drifts and with a proper driver that'd looks awesome.
