This is Erwin Buck´s beautiful VW Scirocco Mk1 in its 2020 version, the very first year it is fitted with a 2.0L Engine, to battle on the ultra competitive E1 2000 Class of the Berg-Cup. The great dominator of the 1600cc Class in the past, it was converted now into a 300Hp/9.000Rpm Monster, with a entirely new engine made by Spiess Racing called the SP G02.
Naturally Aspirated, 2.0L as said previously and weighing only 87Kg, this Aluminium block is pretty much a bespoke unit, specially made for Hillclimb Racing and strongly based on the Formula 3 engines where Spiess Racing specializes. Such a light motor contributes to the overall low weight of the car , which fits right into the limitation given by Berg-Cup rules, at 790Kg for the E1 2000 Class wher eit now competes.
Unable to fight for the intended title this year because of the current World situation, it debuted at Turckheim as a participant of the 5 Nations Trophy where it accumulated its first competitive miles and showed incredible speed right away. We are sure that 2021 will see this machine posting some great results and battling with some of the Iconic 2.0L Monsters that are so popular on the Berg-Cup scene...
