One of the first things i use to do, after oil, filters and sparks, are changing the wiperblades and paint the arms. Does a tremendous differance to the overall apperiance when you quickly look a the car. Also the sidewiev mirrors are usally faded/corroded, and a little paint on them makes a lot of difference. Keep up the good job on small details JR!

My vette story: 1968 I purchased a 1959 Vette for $650 dollars total price. It was a theft recovery, and my uncle worked for the insurance co. Luckily, the only thing the thief did was steal the engine, and trans, nothing else was damaged. Insurance co replaced the eng, and trans before selling to me. It had a rag top, detachable hard top, power windows, dual line Holley carb, wonder bar radio. Funny thing is, I ended up paying more for a years worth of insurance (which was only PL/PD) $700 a year than I paid for the car. I can say one thing, I got more than my moneys worth out of that car, and it has always been the best car I have ever owned. I loved that car.

The stock headlights don't illuminate much at night, so those would be a good upgrade item. There are LED upgrades that retain the pop-up buckets, or you can replace the headlights with LeMans-style, fixed units with clear covers. I'm sure one of the manufacturers would be willing to make you a great deal in exchange for the exposure. Sharp Light Innovations has the best versions of both styles, but they're pretty epricy, and you can find much less expensive alternatives. Metra makes a kit (DP-3021B) for installing a Double Din radio in the C5, or the Joying JY-HQS01N4G-1 will replace the 1.5 din with a touchscreen that look pretty stock.

On my Miata it took me about 10 hours in total on my first try in replacing the top by myself. I split it up into 3 days of 5hrs, 4hrs and one hour trying to adjust the top frame and reinstall the metal trim plate as well as finding a plastic fastener that had fallen into one of the drain holes. I ended up ripping a tiny hole in my new top while trying to pull it tight to the latches. Good thing it was a cheap $200 top off ebay. Next time I'll invest in a Robbins top. I couldn't imagine what it would be like on a Corvette.
