Growing up in the early 60s , there were 11 kids , 6 girls and 5 boys, on the weekends the girls 👧 had " girl duties " , when it was my turn to clean the refrigerator on Saturday,. I made soup out of the leftovers there, corn, tomatoes, assortment of meats, etc made cornbread to go with it , hell brothers and their friends 😋 would clean the pot, but then again guys at their age would eat anything 😋

I’ve made hot and sour soup many times with a recipe that is nearly identical to yours. I decreased the amount of white pepper after the first time I made it bc believe me the white pepper is super super hot. I can attest to this recipe-it is amazingly delicious. Those whom I’ve made for were astonished as to how delicious it is bc we are used to hot and sour soup from a restaurant. Definitely make this soup -your guests will heap loads of compliments on you! More than that you get to have it too and it’s out of this world delicious.

I just ordered my first instant Pot and I have been watching a lot of your videos getting ready. One question I still have is can you cook a soup the whole way through using just the sauté feature, since it would be like cooking on a stove basically? I am still not sure on converting a normal recipe to an instant pot one. Like I know veggies and stuff put out a lot of extra liquid and cook times will be different. I would like to make a chili and some other soups that I know I won't find a recipe for using this if possible since I have such a small space. Any help would be appreciated. I am loving your videos :)

The Zuppa is by far my favorite of your soup recipes to make. The only thing I don't really like about it is putting the bacon in it cause the moisture takes the bacon from crisp to mush and too often I get a mushy bite of just bacon fat, not meat. So I just saute the bacon for it's grease and save it for eating on the side. Other than that, I absolutely love this recipe. So so sooooo good. LOL

you HAVe to get the Cento Tomatoes, pureed or whatever you can get in your store. You will NEVER GO BACK you will be so spoiled. Got so much tried of Spaghetti. Not any more. My old fashioned BEST noodles ever calls for cream, 3 eggs (and cream for all the shells, you can either add another egg or water if the dough is too dry at this stage) about 2 cups of semolina flour (don't do like I did the first time and get semolina mill), 1 tsp of salt. mix altogether either in your bread machine or your Kitchen Aide with the dough hook. (No sure why you are putting baking powder and pepper in your pasta, it isn't needed, I have been making homemade noodle for 57 years, if you are using it to puff the noodles up just cut them thicker, and as for the pepper why does everyone think that EVERYTHING HAS TO HAVE LOTS OF PEPPER ANYMORE? Just wondering) no longer do mine that way as I have bad knees, do too many horse wrecks in my younger days, let them hydrate, A friend, was a professional baker, told me that whenever you are making cookies, cakes, noodles, etc that has flour in it let them sit (hydrate soak up the liquid) it makes so much better cookies etc.. Then cut them up into 1/4 or more if you are using a kitchen aide you will want smaller pieces like you do then run them thru the noodle cutter on your kitchen aide adding a lot of flour each time you run thru (That way they will not stick to each other and it will help thicken the broth), it is so easy to get the thickness you want this way but I ususally just go with 2 as that is the thickness we like, this will knead the noodlesas well, and is so much better than you can imagine, then cut them with your attachment it will either make noodles or spaghetti noodles use them as you want and cook no longer than 5 minutes. And your so right about the cream so you will love my noodles. This recipe is over a 100 years old. I make it all the time. They make a tuna noodle casserole over the top with these noodles. Thanks for your recipes going to have to try the egg drop my hubby loves it also.
