Loving an item that simply doesn’t love you back - heartbreaking, but so important to remember when decluttering!

Spring cleaning is definitely a concept in Latvia. It must include washing the windows and airing bedspreads. Re-potting house plants is optional but advisable. When i was small, it was a helluva nervous day for the whole household and was orchestrated by my lovely mother who was on the brink of a mental breakdown. We had to pull eeeverything out, dust eeeverything and put the whole clutter back for another year. When i grew up into an anxious adult, every spring cleaning day would give me flashbacks of my father storming outside for the 24th cigarette of the day and my mother trying to hide the tears. So i said to myself - no. I don't want it like that. I got rid or more than 1000 items in my studio flat, and in 2021 the big Spring Clean took me 2 hours. And yes i cleaned all the corners and them windows are now brighter than my damn future. I had a cup of tea while at it and a glass or maybe 3 of wine when i was done. And that felt good.

Hi Jenny! Great vid as always. If you ever need video ideas, here’s one: a video about accessories. How to choose, style, match them with your outfits, how to not overspend and how to avoid buying too many and opting for just a few that would go well with most of the outfits. I’d love to see some tips for bags, belts, earrings, necklaces, wristwatches, hats, scarves... everything, basically haha. I’ve got clothing figured out (mostly) but it’s the finishing touches that I struggle with. I would absolutely love to learn from you!

I will always love decluttering videos. I can’t get enough. I took a Purify Your Space course on organizing and decluttering, a pay what you want for the course. I have a lot of minimalist ways about myself, a very small shoe collection of 5 pairs, wearing the same clothes over and over, also buying a small amount of makeup that I feel good in.

I KonMari my space whenever I feel off, it helps me so much. One of my favorite lessons from her, don't start a maybe box. If there are things you're unsure about and want to put in a maybe box, ask yourself why. Thank the item for helping you or making you feel joy at some point and get rid of it. If you really miss it, you'll buy it again.

In Brazil it's quite common to do a huge cleaning and decluterring on the end of the year (summer), generally in Dezember! It's the time of the year when we let the old things, old papers and stuff not used anymore go away to welcome the new year, fresher and lighter! It's soooo revigorating!

I’m not great at keeping my house organized and clean. Like most people use something and put it back or throw it away immediately. I don’t... I just leave it there. I keep my kitchen clean and put food back immediately, but for example my bathroom: I wear dailies and after a while there are just 6 wrappers of contacts in my sink. Or empty bottles of shampoo stay in the shower. Or my skincare products belong on the shelf but I leave them on the sink. And I have a walk in closet and dirty clothes just stay there for a couple of days. So I have to do a little clean out twice a week. I also bigger clean outs twice a year. 1 during Christmas break and 1 during summer break, because thats when I have time. Day one: desk and drawers, day two: bookcases, day three: bathroom, day four: kitchen, day five: wardrobe, etc. I always throw and give away A LOT. I don’t do a spring clean out, I’m just too busy. Spring is most often the time I get new things. Clothes, shoes, underwear, skin care products, books of sheet music, literature, home decoration, plants (or I propagate succulents I already have).
