The part when Emily and her mom were skeptical of the people helping them with their bags, questioning if they got everything in terms where they hoped they got everything but couldn't be sure. Emily's Mom also said the men surrounding Kobe was a circus. And they contantly asked Kobe if they were going to be safe. Not only did they show their ignorance to the his country in general they made many racist comments. I am looking forward to see how the visit goes with Kobes family. Everything can't be summed up to ignorance. They accepted Kobe because of their daughter but to me are true people that discriminate against black people.

To be fair tho it can be scary for ppl like that whom have never experienced that before. I married an igbo man near 8yrs ago n we are still very much happily married Nd I've learned alot bout his country and culture etc in all these years and I also read their news. When I go there in a few months it's gonna be a little scary cos alot of bad stuff does happen there tho it does everywhere but in a different way. I know my hubby will keep me safe and I know there's millions of good ppl there but alot of stuff does happen there that doesn't happen in my country. So yes I can understand it's a little scary for them. So give them a break. But I also understand that they've been together a long time now so she also shouldve learned bout the country and its cultures.

To be fair they've never experienced that kinda thing. Tho she shouldve learned more bout his country n cultures. I married an igbo man near 8yrs ago and I'm going bk to his country nigeria with him to visit this year and its a little scary cos tho I've learned some igbo and yoruba language and the pidgin and alot bout his country I also read their news and alot of bad stuff does happen there. I know bad stuff happens everywhere but it's a diff kinda bad stuff. Nigeria has ritualists and skull miners and all diff types of scary things so that's a little diff to a robber or a drunk driver or whatever bad things you'd see in my country. U get what I mean? I know my hubby will keep me safe otherwise I wouldn't go and I know there's many good ppl there too. And all that kinda thing has nothing to do with them being black or white either. The country is diff to their country u must know that.

I can definitely understand they were in a place they were unfamiliar with. But come on anybody with common sense knows how to act. What they said was very insensitive not only to Kobe's culture but also to Black People period. He had to come to an unfamiliar place and culture as well when coming to America. What if he wasn't open minded and he was complaining about everything including being the only minority in a place without very many minorities. If the shoe was on the other foot these people would be offended. There are ways you can be polite even when experiencing something different including a country or culture. Safety was not the only thing they complained about. And I will absolutely NOT give them a break. Open your mind and get to know people from diverse backgrounds in order to educate yourself. And when you are in a different place by choice Do NOT Complain. 🎤

I'd love to see a traditional wedding! When I worked in Rwanda those few weeks, our participants were from all over Africa, so we got a taste of cultures from many countries, especially music and dance was easiest to share. At meal times, we talked a lot about different foods. I hope these get better and less embarrassing. Thanks for your coverage.

Ahh man the ignorance in this video is mind blogging. The things they say lol the dad acting like he is on the set of Black Panther every clip is killing me. Emily relating it to the Lion King. At least we know they grew up watching Disney lol. I wish Kobe wouldn't laugh and just correct them or educate them nicely. The good thing about ignorance is you can still learn and be better.

I just got so choked up watching Coby's family giving Emily's family hugs. How sweet was that? I wish i could be a tiny bug so i could tell Emily to STOP SPEAKING WORDS OF NEGATIVITY AND DOUBT! Words are VERY POWERFUL! What is spoken now has life. Our universe hears what our hearts and mouths are saying. Emily voicing ALL IS HER DOUBT about "Coby's dad not accepting" her and "what would i do if...". We breathe life into our spoken words. She has this weapon of mass destruction... her mouth. We ALL DO and we use it daily.

I rarely comment on KZitem but I have to say this to Emily. Your husband obviously loves you very much. He moved to the United States for you and he definitely understands that he is in the United States and accepts that the culture is different than where he comes from!!! He has your back and had your back when he was talking to his friends. Trust him and trust the process.. Please don’t give him a hard time because he loves you. Let him enjoy his time with his family and friends and don’t read too much into things. You guys are good!!!!❤

Her and Kobe should've sat down and had a conversation about what her expectations are about Africa, specifically Cameroon, vs what the reality will be. He should've prepared her a little bit better. But I think most countries in Africa (I said most not all) aren't as race-conscious and culture-conscious because we've grown up with people who look like us and live like us (or similar to us). He probably wasn't prepared for the way they perceived anything because he's never had to see them out of their element like that. He's always assimilated and adopted their American culture. Hopefully other Americans see this and are compelled to do some research from non-biased sources about what Africa is really like.
@preyn49

I'm sorry but Mahmoud isn't going to assimilate at all. His energy is low because he's homesick. Nicole isn't the right person for him and he isn't right for her. As for Emily and her family, I suspect the more they try not to be offensive, they're going to be offensive. It best to smile answer only when asked and be cordial. I'm happy to see Kobe's children exposed to their family and the culture. I wish Kobe, Emily and both families grow to love each other. Its beautiful to see families blend together in spite of their differences.

Sometimes Emily and her family comes across very insensitive to Kobe. Could they not have researched before going and tailored their words better. And it's so shocking how Emily can describe her discomfort and not acknowledge Kobe with admiration for doing what he did for her. Moving to another country, exposed to a different culture, different ethnicity to start a whole new life from scratch is not easy. Please give Kobe more credit cus he always showcased to be an awesome guy. Emily's comments really make it easy to dislike her quickly, even though I am sure she is a lovely girl.

If they do have common sense I hope they'll understand why it is okay for them to wear his attire and that it's not to cosplay but rather show respect. I also hope some people can learn about that.
