The American Autumn Explorer II was an Amtrak special train of all private passenger cars that are members of the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners (AAPRCO). The cars and passengers were on their way to Burlington, VT, for the 43rd Annual AAPRCO Convention. The cars would visit several destinations on the Vermont Railway over a few days before heading to their final destination. They would remain in Burlington during the convention and returned to Albany at its conclusion.
We placed a camera on the back of the platform and made it through high-speed section of track between Albany and Schenectady, NY, with our train reaching a speed of 90 MPH. We made it past the former ALCo Assembly Plant, before our camera battery died.
The camera had to be left unattended as Amtrak doesn't allow platform riding and there was no access to it.
