Months of dreaming, thinking, and working culminates here. No matter what you think, I can at least say I worked my ass off to get this done by my self-imposed deadline through other activities. Bear in mind that I’ve also had absolutely no formal training whatsoever.
Though not all segments were played in one take, all were collectively played by hand. For the faster/more complex songs, loops were used for the bass so I could focus on the melody.
They may have their imperfections, but I’m glad to have nevertheless crammed these pieces that required varying techniques for a purpose. This project honestly and definitely helped me gain a better understanding of performing on the piano as I went so far as to observe pianists like Animenz, Theishter, Fonzi M, and WattKeys, especially about their insights on transitions and technique (though I am, of course, nowhere near their level just yet). And yes, for now I’m indeed a sustain pedal simp (so songs like Hero Too become quite muddy…).
Consider this my first official attempt in practicing transcription by ear, MIDI editing, and playing the piano in general. I hope to be able to perform these songs live in the future.
Once again, Happy 90th Birthday, Angkong! :) Hope you have/havin'/had an excellent day! ;)
Recorded on and exported from GarageBand.
Played on a Kawai ES110.
