Great video, as always. Your channel is helping me a lot. Explanations are very useful. Especially your diode-reading notes. You have no idea, how helpful they are to amateur. Do you also do similar notes with voltages?
@ToltecMerc
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I appreciate that. I sometimes will take voltage notes. I think I find diode readings more useful because usually the device is completely dead and thus voltage readings are almost useless. It is useful to know the Vcc voltage.

Atm I dont have solution but that multimeter is not viewer friendly... when you measure something at the same time we want to see it on multimeter, but this multimeter is not friendly to eyes. Try to change FPS of recording camera?
@ToltecMerc
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I realize that there is a problem with the different refresh rates between the meter and the camera. I will try to tweak my camera settings and see if I can make it better.

So the resistor was just a current resistor? How did you know the mosfets are blown, i guess you worked a lot on these Power Supplys? What do you think happened, that both mosfets get a short between source and drain, overcurrent?

Hello, nice video. A faulty power supply can cause random PS5 shutdown while playing?
@ToltecMerc

Yes. It is possible that a power supply could cause that.

@@ToltecMerc what can cause that, PFC capacitors or the PSU has a thermal fuse that can be triggered with overheat? No warning message about high temperatures pops up

I'm thinking I could use a new portable meter with an easy-to-read screen! If I recall correctly, I bought my Siglent bench meter after seeing one on your channel. It definitely made reading my meter much quicker and easier. The only problem I have with it is it's diode mode. when checking some LEDs where it will say OPEN but the diode is clearly lighting. lol. If you do get new probes, go gold plated. I have some cheap gold plated probes from Jeff Bezos and they are much more reliable during continuity checking.
@ToltecMerc

Diode mode outputs about a 1mA test current and measures the voltage. Most meters will show a maximum of about 2V before showing OL. LED voltages are typically around 2V so being able to display the voltage drop is hit and miss. I have recently bought some very nice gold plated Probe Master probes. The problem I have is that the probes will fall and hang of the bench and the tips hit the concrete floor. Then the tip is mangled and I have to file it to sharpen them. There goes the gold plating.
