i have watched literally hundreds of bike laps of the ring (been twice) and that is one of the most committed laps i have ever watched. fantastic lap on that bike,and without a steering damper you must be nuts.just be careful landing wheelies,i know a couple of people that can wheelie right through the box ,high speed stand ups , and they have both had problems landing 954,s at speed if leant over slightly. balls of steel to do a lap like that and committ to pass traffic,ten seconds faster without the hold up at angst curve too. i take you race ? only TF laps i have seen quicker were andy carlisle,brendan kierle and dale lomas. your not far off that pace .

Very very brave, I know it well in the virtual world but yet to get there on the bike (just downgraded from my 08 R1 to an 02 954 for this very reason). Have to say having had a 929 (also brilliant) before - a steering damper is a must to be doing what you're doing - all the same Mr Baba always said the bike didn't need one and you've demonstrated that - nice lap....!

Remarkably tight engines. I ran my 929 from Denmark to Italy and back using the autobahns unlimited sections to full potential with a 35000 km motor and the oil consumption was negligible. (Fitting new spark plugs is bad enough, I don't envy you the tensioner.) I haven't ridden it hard enough :-

@n2n8sda

+Mallydawg I assume you haven't owned a 954 before then. Go do some internet searches for cbr954rr engine noise. The majority of them sound like that, even when they left the show room they had a lot of top end rattle, aparantly it's thin engine cases. Sure you will find some videos of them that have problems like cam-chain tensioner or failed bearings but even a healthy engine with healthy cam-chain can make a lot of noise on a cbr954. Somebody said once that when cold his bike sounded like the big ends had gone and after warmed up sounded like the valvetrain was gone but had sounded like that from new and never had any issues.
@n2n8sda
8 жыл бұрын
+Willem de Rooij I've read this a lot about changing cam-chain tensioner by removing engine. I changed mine twice without lowering engine, its only 2 8mm nuts that you can get a small openeded ring spanner on.
