Have you guys thought about making berms and swales to hold more water in the ground? This would help with the fires
@GFD472

I was thinking the same. Getting rid of the mimosa and managing the land to retain water(both in soil & native trees) would certainly help the situation. Doing so would create resilience in the native ecosystem and mitigate the threat of fire.

They are composting the waste, perhaps a small biogas setup is feasible, but someone at Kamp would need to take it on as a project. Some of them are vegan and think that using animals for work & useful tasks is putting them into involuntary servitude. Viewers try to explain that farm animals just do what they want to, and that well-kept livestock, and animals like guard dogs are actually happier than many well-kept pets.

Fireproofing by clearing unwanted species. Protecting fire hardened species. Replanting with fire retardant varieties. Making it more accessible for rescue vehicles. For air movement, I would have preferred an A frame roof vs flat roof on the animal hauler. More space, heigher ceiling, cooler but requires more work and time and scaffolding. Depending on wind direction and forces, may be tippy or rocky. Do the two larger lounge chairs require a stability bar/rod at the back to support the material and extend useful life? More so with repeated use by heavier people. Less strain on the existing floating system. Any plans for mimoso lounge chairs, stools, benches, tables, etc?

@AdricM

first off cutting at the bottom is awkward, and is likely to get your chain in the dirt and rocks, which dulls/fowls it. And a tall tree kicks when it falls. you dont want to be crouching down and getting that in the face or chest.

You folks really need to get water harvesting and management stuff in place to make sure your land is as hydrated as possible. All the usual permaculture and anti-erosion stuff, working from the highest points in the land on down. This will make you a LOT more resiliant against fires and drought conditions. A lot of things can be done by just a few people piling stones, or making use of the old branches from the mimosas to slow down what rains you do get. I think you also need to plant *something* in those areas you basically clear-cut, in order to rehabilitate the land and prevent it just turning into bare ground.

When stitching the top and bottom sleeves on the chair covers, don't stitch completely through to the end of the fabric. Try to start 5-10mm in from the end, so that you don't make a perforated line that could tear. I would recommend hems on the sides, but that depends on whether your machine can hand the thickness.
