Hardest sample of 2022. Back in the day, punk and rap understood eachother in an unmentioned way. And they still do. Alternative will live forever; The emotion is timeless.

This brings back memories. Saw them in 1978? at U C Santa Cruz at a packed auditorium. They came back next year to a club called The Catalyst, we were under 21 so we couldn't get in. As we were walking down the street they were walking towards us. So we started talking to them telling them how much we liked them, and they asked if we were coming to the show? We explained why we couldn't get in. They said not to worry about that and got us in for free. They sat and talked for a while, then they played the show. It was kind of sad because it was only us four and two people at the bar. Even though it was only us, they played great show.

Great story. Had a similar deal with the English beat at the University of Miami as we weren't students ran into Ranking Roger And he got us backstage passes. The. The drummer who was really cool asked if we wanted to watch the opening band from the sound booth. Sure! The opening band had just released their first EP that week. Some band from Athens, GA called REM... After the opening said he said we could stay there, but we said He'll No, we came to dance! We followed him through the crowd right to the front. One of the best shows ever.

Ralph Jackson Did not know that as I only came to live in Britain in '84. Well. another bunch of puritanical board of sensors banned the film 'a clock work orange' from being shown at cinemas anywhere in the UK for well over 30 years while Europe had no problem and simply gave it an X rating as one should. The internet put those autocratic elements in the gallery of outdated ideals and other pre historic' s.

+Robert Manfred Thurrigl "A Clockwork Orange" was not banned by any government appointed censor. The director,Stanley Kubrick, withdrew it from circulation as he was concerned by the copy cat violence that was being committed by people who had seen the film.It was available to be bought or seen in cinemas abroad because his control of the distribution was limited to the UK.I saw the film in Denmark at a cinema when I was 16.My brother saw it a cinema when he was 14 when we lived in South America. It was only after Kubricks death that his family and Warner Brothers decided to make it publicly available in the UK.

Probably the most under rated Punkers .. never gained enough exposure / promotion in the US but, I get the feeling Nick & crew preferred it that way as they used to play out of the way, obscure places over here. Lucky enough to see them Live many times in US & 2 shows in UK that I will never forget ! The ENERGY one felt During & after one of their shows is unmatched. Glad to see their still at it and touring away... Unfortch, I don't see ANY US shows on their site. C'mon Nick ! Fave memory is a show in Malibu Beach club, Long Island NY In early 80's.. 82/83 ? Me & my pals were Front & center against the stage.. Singin every Lyric to every song.. when .. during first chords of Homicide, Nick motions for me to jump up & sing with him! We did the whole song, Place going wild.. ( I even swatted the sweat off his crew cut head.. in honor of the way he used to do same to Bass player Watson ( phenom player as well) and the sweat would fly off into the crowd.. LOL The look on his face - priceless! Song ends.. He says " Hell, Lets do it again' ! Then says.. C'mon.. Everybody up here ... That's when the pandemonium started.. Big rush forward, Stage overcrowded.. Management pissed & sent Bouncers / heavies up there to throw people off ! Nick & the lads got Pissed.. and started buttin their guitar heads into the Low plaster ceiling... Plaster coming down. etc .. He's bitchin at the bouncers All while the songs' going on !! Haha... IF we only had cell phones those days .. Damn.. Management then, tried throwing them off... unplugging there amps... Nuts... Near Riot as the crowd were now pissed ! Leaving the show, we put the radio on ( WLIR) where they actually broke the story.. and said the Club owners have banned 999 from ever returning.. to which the DJ said.. this calls for a 999 marathon! To which she played 'Crazy' .. Nasty Nasty.. My Street Stinks.. If my memory serves me .... Looong drawn out comment. apologies ! But, was such a memorable show... Still play them all the time these days... Hope to get to Scotland to see them in November ! Enjoy...

In the original Punk era of the mid 70s-early 80s, it didn't mean "Sounds like Green Day". It just meant being influenced by 60s Garage, leading to a lot of variety in sound and creativity, from the Ramones to Blondie to Elvis Costello to Talking Heads to the Jam and everything in between. Each month brought a new surprise. Way more interesting that the "Stick to a strict formula with no variation" approach of today. We'd never have had London Calling if the Clash stuck to that formula.
