Some things I remembered but forgot to mention. 1. Warmonger's was huge for me in both my Briar match and my last Lexi match. I saved Warmonger's in arsenal and saw Lexi double arsenal, but decided to wait one turn before playing it. I ended up being correct as the second arsenal was Falcon wing, but on the following turn, they might've read I didn't have it and arsenaled a single arrow, which warmonger's then shut down their following turn. I definitely would not cut it at the moment. 2. In my last match vs Lexi I was surprised he didn't block 10-12 on my CNC as I didn't make a surge. This to me spells a pummel for sure as the other card I need to pitch for pummel was red. Even still, I think he made the decision that blocking his full hand would only lose him the game, and went for a gamble/potentially winning block, which was punished by my pummel. 3. I actually do run red pummel into Dromai, either 1 or 2 (If I go down to 2 chokeslam, it would be 2 pummels). In general poppers are important, but I find that pressure is also important, and presenting CNC pummel or just 10 damage on 3 cards is good. If you're on the backfoot clearing important dragons, drawing into pummel feels bad, but pitching it for second cycle is perfectly fine if you're just clearing a miragai with hammer or something. Dromai can tech a million different ways for the matchup, and I board the same way, but have to adjust my gameplan based on what they're doing. 4. Cards like Oasis or steadfast for Kano feels pretty bad. Unless you draw it exactly at the right spot, the cards just curb your aggro potential, which you need to beat them down in order to win.

Clearing miragai/cromai obviously works against dromai but I have had games where they generate 15ish ashwings over 8 turns or so. Do you pop/clear them as well then?
@AlanLube
Жыл бұрын
@@florianvanbrakel3275 So in my mind, Dromai can only make this many ashwings if you're not pressuring them enough. I often pop ashwings to stop their turn and just hit their face. As you said miragai/cromai/passing mirage are all priorities to clear, I like to save zealous or rouse in arsenal to clear these and also swing at face, but I'll also just throw them at face if nothing threatening is on board. (Ouvia is also something to clear early as that can get out of hand, but this also depends how much ash they have. If you're pressuring enough they can struggle to efficiently make ash) I almost will never swing hammer into an ashwing, just pop to end their turn, clear anything important, or go face. block with cards that aren't poppers into any attack actions they play. Or just block if your hand doesn't do anything and swing a hammer for 4/6.

@@AlanLube sometimes your hand just doesnt do enough or you have to hammer down a miragai which gives them their hand etc.

@@florianvanbrakel3275 Yeah you definitely have to take some turns off to clear important things, but usually it should still be ok unless they just have perfect hands turn after turn.

I have been playing for about 2 to 3 months now after years of YGO and been doing fairly well at armories so far (haven't had the chance to attend bigger tournaments). I think I'm playing Bravo quite well but would 100% watch the video where you would explain how to play Bravo correctly 😁

Thanks! Congrats on your finish as well, getting 2nd at a 500+ calling with lots of international players is a huge accomplishment. Honestly prob more impressive CC wise than a mixed format nats. I saw your list and some of your advice in discord and saw we came to a lot of the same conclusions about matchups, with just slight differences in some cards. Definitely think your Bravo game is top notch

nice work! i played bravo at nats as well. i ended up running blessing of deliverance over sigil, the 3 block is nice and works well against uzuri (also great into iyslander). however, the biggest reason was the mirror. in testing the bravo deck without blessing seemed to be at a huge disadvantage. when you and your opponent are trading anothos swings, if you can play the same identical line but gain 2-3 life in the process, it really changes the outcome
@AlanLube
Жыл бұрын
Personally I kind of hate blessing of deliverance. It's ok when you keep an extra blue that can go in arsenal as a way to not draw a red and lose that turn cycle, but I like sigil because of the breakpoints it offers and pummel bluffs. In general for the bravo mirror I prefer to be the agressor, as it's much easier to fatigue the opponent if you're the bravo playing out all of your threats. This changes if the enemy bravo is heavily defensive, but usually that isn't the case. I can see the argument for blessing, I personally just am not a fan, and when it comes to the mirror I didn't want to spend too many slots and hope the skill difference is there.

Amazing performance, congrats! Pretty sure you also just pitch stack well into Uzuri? I win most but against a great Uzuri player their 2nd cycle tends to be very strong as well.
@AlanLube
Жыл бұрын
Yeah for uzuri, I pitch stack where possible for sure, but there eventually comes a point where their disruption only affects you so much, and they run out of damage. Playing vs triple remembrance Uzuri is super annoying to keep track of their threats, but I still don't think it's too bad. Anothos just carries and sigil helps get your life total high. Overall, I think skill in the matchup takes you a very long way, I definitely spend too much time thinking about blocks which can be scary for a long grindy matchup. It's not one of my comfiest matchups, but not one I'm worried about particularly, unless it's heavy contract fatigue style uzuri.
@florianvanbrakel3275

Definitely agree the fatigue one can be quite harsh, dont think Anothos carries as much versus that variant.

Thanks! I definitely would agree for Dash. A large majority of Dash players I face only care about items and play too slow in my opinion. But theoretically I do believe Bravo is unfavored, just haven't met it in practice yet. As for Uzuri, I feel like more players shifted toward more redline decks, which makes me more comfortable. If the contract style becomes more the norm I would put Uzuri slight unfavored as well.

Hey there! Great Vid! I would love to see how you play the Bravo VS Isylander match up! specifically how you get anothos to 6 with tunic? i have tried tunic a couple of times and i still run tech plate cause its easier to get anothos to 6. is it just a matter of just throwing big dumb red attacks and ignoring damage?
@AlanLube
Жыл бұрын
Generally, blocking 9 and swinging anothos for 4 is a solid play, anothos for 6 happens usually when I draw a red/yellow I can't play and double pitch for anothos. Outside of that, I'm trying to mainly throw threats like rouse, zealous, crippling, etc. It definitely isn't about ignoring damage, blocking efficiently and swinging efficiently is the name of the game. If I have 4 blue in hand I will usually also lead with dominate, they disrupt, then I AB to cover up damage, and swing for 6. Tunic also helps save 2-3 life over the course of the game even if you don't have a threat ready to cover up damage. You gotta find the sweet spot of playing slow enough to get value from your hammer and block out all their physical threats, without playing too slow that they have room to set up insidious and frost hexes (although most iyslander don't bother setting up frost hex as much anymore)
