I would like a how to loop tutorial, I struggle at it so it would be very helpful just like this guide!
@Kiddo_williams
2 ай бұрын
A lot of looping is map knowledge and knowing where general tiles would spawn Camera control always look back at the killer and know what type of killer you’re playing against. Does the killer respect pallets or go through them? Is it a range killer? Is the killer m1? Pathing is also very important gotta know how to mindgame against certain killers, don’t be predictable with your movement.

This really is a spectacular tutorial. I even learned a bunch (the details on hitboxes)! Super useful. Two points: 1.) I've only ever heard it called "*the* Hatch," not "Hatch." So when you had no "the" it sounded very weird to me. This produced much entertainment to me. 2.) I know this only a basic tutorial, but I do think there is one rule that is especially important that might have been a nice closing point: while you should play the way that produces fun for you, you should also consider the experience of other players. The Devs have added a lot of rules (e.g. the anti-camp timer) to try and push the community in the direction of the spirit of the game, but at the end of the day it's up to the players to play in the spirit of the game. A key example for survivors is: you should try to all get out alive, if you can (which requires game-sense). Don't leave your team makes hanging. You want to have a good time, but sometimes your good time is up to your team mates (as it is a team game), so treat others the way you would want to be treated!
@ProbablyMish

very good beginner tutorial other advice i could give is about how the gate's works. it has 3 red lights that tells you the progess of the gate opening. You can see that above the bar progression you have the text : "open escape", the first light will not pop on until you reach the progression bar at the "s" of escape. This can save you if you are near the killer or if you are alone in a endgame situation since the killer will not see the progress and it could save you some time

Something I think should've known from the beginning and I think many new players don't know is that the game isn't about hiding and not getting found but rather about learning how to loop and waste the killers time for the Team. Before I started DBD this year I only knew how the game was back when it got released and many played it as that hide and seek game and it took me a while to realize that it's the wrong approach to it. Since then I think I have improved as survivor tho I do kinda miss the hide and seek aspect of it but as a mainly killer player I know how frustrating it is when everyone hides all game xD

looping question that i've heard different things about; when you are looping a structure, many people recommend to just use a/d strafe keys and cam movement to loop around structures, others say use strafe plus forward/back, making sure your slightly 'pushing' into the wall (though can get stuck during cornering). while ultimately if you are good at both it won't matter, is there one that is easier for beginners?

i think making a tutorial video to supplement BHVR's lackluster tutorial is a great idea! just as a bit of feedback though, the captions along the bottom of the video are appreciated, but having it only show like two or three words per line makes it kinda hard to follow the guide like, i know the psychological reason for having a only few words flash at a time is that it makes the TikTok part of a human's brain hyperfixate on the screen because of the rapid stimulus and the idea that the thought is incomplete, so it basically hypnotizes them in a sense, but i think it overall is less conductive to a learning experience; it would probably be better to just have full sentences or thoughts along the bottom of the screen, ala the 'older' style of captions hope this doesn't come across as too nitpicky; just explaining my thoughts, cheers!

12:37 correction, if someone is hooked, you should open the door, the slight time loss of having someone touch the lever and waiting for the door to open is usually way more than you can afford, that's why you always see comp players fully open exit gates before trying to rescue
@Netugi
2 ай бұрын
that's ideal if you can coordinate your escape well, but comp is very much its own distinct environment. for those in solo-queue or don't have good coordination with their friends, sometimes 99ing gates is useful, and you need to use your best judgement. Maybe you 99 your gate, but you find out that they got a safe hook rescue, then you can pre-emptively open the gate and take body hits as they make their way over. There's also the off chance that the killer brings Blood Warden, if you're worried about that, or maybe you smell a blood warden given their build/playstyle. And there are certainly times where you just gotta pop the gate open and hope for the best, because you can't afford the time loss of touching the lever as you pointed out
