Mack DM800 that was upgraded by Conforti with 80,000 pound Mack rears on Mack 100,000 pound walking beam suspension. Front axle is Mack with a capacity of 23,000 pounds. Tires are 14.00R24, about 54 inches in diameter or 4.5 feet tall. Engine is a 500 HP Mack E9 V8 and the transmission is a 12 speed with mud stick (manually shifted as opposed to air shifted lo-lo range). Top speed of about 40-45 MPH. I know the driver.

Some crazy low gears in those macks....Sadly I still operate a 1966 DM800...Not a piece of plastic or fiber glass found on those old gals..Steel Steel and Steel....Coming out of muddy small hill once...I had to throw her in the lowest gear and even with the wheels turned which I was not aware of...the truck just plowed right up the hill.....

The difference between the two is a DM-800 is an off-set cab to provide better visibility for the operator, and an RD-800 model has a conventional cab.The hood length is the basically the same between the two,and the reason for the set-back axle is to load more weight on the front-end and have a better/tighter turning radius and shorter wheelbase lengths. I hope this helps you!

Can someone explane the difference from the DM-800SX series & the RD800SX I noticed on DM the front axle stick further back than RD or has a longer hood, can someone explain why this is.
