One thing I did recall the engineers mention, was that the bigger dart width vs elite allowed the head to dissipate the impact force over a wider area, so it'd hurt less. That's a consideration I appreciate in theory, as someone who doesn't like getting whacked by 100+fps rounds at close range. But I'm still a bit skeptical it'd make too much of a difference.

I don’t even care about the blasters, for me the problem is the darts. Yes they are good and defiantly better than elite darts, but WHY make them only work for specific blasters? Why couldn’t nerf just make a blue and orange version of waffle darts? I have no confidence that this line will last long enough for me to buy these darts in bulk.

My local Minnesota Nerf group hosted a game yesterday with 30 or so players of all age ranges, and it didn't occur to me until I was watching your video just now that I didn't see a single N1 dart or N-Series blaster at the game. There were a few kids about 8 years old there, but they weren't playing with N-Series blasters. One had a Rival Perses, one had an Omnia Pro, and the last one had a Dart Zone Pro MK-3; and they were keeping pace with the adults and teens and holding their own just fine. I think the lesson here is that even if you are 8 years old doesn't mean you can't tell the difference between a good blaster and a lousy one, and kids who are into Nerf want to play with the same good blasters the older folks are playing with. Which is just fine by me as long as they wear eye protection and understand and are okay with the fact that a 150+ FPS dart is going to hurt a little to get with, which they certainly did.

Yeah what I noticed with those bashing N-Series is that they're mostly North American based and have easy to access 3rd party companies Nerf thrives on basically broader reaches and it seems that being more available in places that aren't willing to have Pro blasters just sitting around. Also before I get comments on how they found Dart Zone Pro in their countries, I ask this; Was that at the same time as the actual release date?

In Spain we don't have easy access to Dart Zone (note that "not easy" doesn't mean "not at all", we just have to buy it online from their European resellers), but we have LOTS of X-Shot (including the high powered ones) on the stores, and Buzzbee stuff, plus our own brands (like Juguettos) that you won't find at the other side of the Pond. Plus the Chinese knockoffs. So you might want to reconsider your opinion that outside your frontiers it's Nerf or nothing ;-D

I honestly think a change like this is what Nerf needed. Was a new dart type too much? Maybe. BUUUUUT Nerf did need a change of some kind The worst part about this whole series is the quality control, not the dart type. These blasters don't work consistently (the only consistently working one being the Sprinter) One thing I do appreciate is the absolute TON of mod potential these things have, and the longevity of the new dart type seems good when considering the price. But time will tell how this series turns out. If Hasbro irons out the kinks and issues than maybe JSUT MAYBE this thing will be a success. (Or it'll tank like Ultra lol)

I just think it's so silly that this whole time the big reason why Elite darts sucked was because they had a vent hole on only one side and it caused asymmetric drag. Chances are good if they just punched another matching hole in those heads they would have flown about as well as a lot of other darts. And that inaccuracy is the main reason folks were saying "DON'T get Nerf brand darts." As is, I fear they're now making it so that people in the North American markets will actually look at Nerf and go "...Nah I'll just go with Dart Zone" and Nerf will take the wrong message from it yet again and end up making themselves SO proprietary while being unappealing to all but the most casual market sector that they'll just end up pushing themselves out of their own market. If they pursued quality instead and focused on distinct brand lines for different age groups I think we'd be in a better spot. We're now hitting a point where "more power" ≠ "better" and I think classifying models by recommended engagement distance makes the most sense. And we need innovations that are based around that.

The best of the N1 series blasters right now is probably the Agility. It's the tried and true Disruptor 6-shot cylinder pistol design just enlarged to accommodate the darts so there's no faux-barrel to mess up shot trajectory and no breech or magazine jamming issues. At $10 normal price, it's okay. Really, the biggest issue with N1 is that all the competition has better blasters using the standard Elite ammo on the shelves right next to Nerf's offerings.

I think what doesn't help is N-series is right after them pumping the same smart AR blasters that costed so much more than they're worth, in Elite 2.0. Same Elite blasters, worse build quality, uncomfortable mag releases, no screws to open and fix them, the Warden and Shockwave straight up don't work. Only the Motoblitz and Double Punch gave something new, something wacky, something interesting. Yet it feels like they went from one line of mediocrity and lacking imagination to another. They should double down on wacky, fun blasters, as that's not what their competition like Dart Zone or X-shot is doing.

My biggest gripe with the new dart is that Hasbro is willing to render their entire N-Strike lineup obsolete for no good reason other than to spite their superior competition. No matter what bullshit explanation they give, they could have achieved the same objective with a standard microdart of some kind. This thing is so, so close to a microdart, but isn't, because fuck you. That's why. And that's why I hope it fails disastrously and Hasbro has to go crawling back to microdarts.

Oof, where to start, Beret a shill? Never!, well maybe Bert, but I digress, N-series is just another money grab. I suppose that many of the blasters gifted this X-mas will end up unused on the shelf when the kid who is gifted it realizes how expensive the ammo is, and it will end up at a thrift store shortly after. So many Ultras suffered the same fate when the 8 yo discovered that they could get 200 better darts for their Reflex 6 for the same price as 50 N1 darts or 10 Ultra darts. In a realistic world Hasbro would have seen this right off but no. There is a certain type of creative, the self proclaimed (propelled?) genius, who can only see the beauty of their idea which of course blots out all practical considerations. This is what seems to be the spirit of Nerf marketing lately. That and the monopolistic Scrooge Mcduck dream of proprietary blasters and ammo. Well, I believe they would sell much, much more if their ammo was cheaper.
