Another solution is to use a nicer shaped magnet that you can tape more flush and cleaner. That may be another cheap fix.

What I did was attach two smallish rare earth magnets to my frame. Just in case I knock off the magnet on my kick stand in the bush. What it also does is makes the bike light up like an 18 wheeler at traffic lights that have the sensors in the pavement. I no longer get stuck at lights that don't know I am there.

If that stock sensor gets hit with a rock? Its broken. And it turns out no way to fix it at trailside. A bummer to walk out.

Hope they fix it in the 2025 model that till now looks like a quite reworked one.

I've riden hundrends of bikes during the past 30 years. Maybe i remember one with a broken sensor and that would not stop the bike from starting. What was the designer thinking of? This is not a Boeing.

I'll have to keep this in mind if this happens to me. Nothing yet. I did notice it doesn't like to start like other bikes I had when in gear with the clutch pulled in. Now if I can get it to go into neutral easily I would be happy. If it is sitting still it pretty much never wants to go into neutral. Never had this problem with any bike. I have to make sure when im in second and slowing down and still about 10-15mph to light tap it down into neutral because good luck if i try when stopped at the light.

If your sensor does quit? Its get off and push or walk time. Cannot be fixed at road or trailside. A bummer.

I tried this same trick on my 2021 690 enduro r, it doesnt work. It works on older bikes fine. Sure seems like it should, but no matter what I do with any magnet or the stock magnet. It wont work. Some say taping the magnet on could possibly have the magnet get loose or move. I ordered the ridiculously expensive module from Slavens.

My bike is a 2023 and taping the magnet worked for a while

Couldn’t u just snip the wires and wire them together to close the loop.

You can do that too.

Not on these bikes. The third wire is the signal to the ECM. It checks to see if the switch is there. That is why you would need a resistor to jump the circuit.

Not with a newer one. There are 3 wires, it is a complicated thing internally. No amount of wire twisting will make it work. Maybe 2019 and newer? We did that on an old 950, twisted 2 wires together and voilah the bike was fixed.

The reason you shouldn’t remove it is because there were many accidents years ago with people that left the stand down did a fast right fast right straight on fast left stand digs in you fall off

Oh, I'm aware. But I would rather not have the bike disabled.

Try going to ktm it sounds like the part is faulty it does happen i don’t think the part is that expensive

@stevenwigmore1805 it's happened on my 2008 smc, the same design. They'll just replace it with the same part that could also fail.

There are also people who have gone over the bars when the kickstand flops down and kills the engine off a jump or big bump. Its instant dead engine if the kickstand flops down at all. Or it can bounce up and down and make the bike stutter. At some point, a person has to learn to put the kickstand up, right?

@@bradsanders6954 They should also put automatic braking before curves, and automatic leaning during them. I hear everyday cases of people running wide on corners, they should protect us more!!!!
