Here's the deal man. We are in operations. I have worked in many industries in an operational role. Operations will ALWAYS be viewed as an "expense" and not an asset. Plain and simple. We can garner relationships that may help offset that point of view but that mindset will never change. The ""frontline" will always be that and we will always be "back of the house". I wish that wasn't the case but it is what it is.

I'm hoping to help change that the best I can. If I can uplift our field to shed light on the "back of the house" then I will

Good luck with that. 35 years ago we were respected and appreciated when MBAs ran the show but ever since nurses moved up the management chain to include the C-suites the focus has become more nurse-centric and support services got pushed to the back of the bus. Half the nurses out there today couldn't even tell you what biomeds do at the hospital. 😥

This is a leadership problem the department leaders need to band together to achieve a common goal and cascade that message to their team

That's a culture that admin breeds by paying directors/managers incentive bonuses based on dept cost savings. So if I can make this your problem (financially) then my budget is spared and I get my bonus! Which makes you angry and less cooperative. It perpetuates the Us vs Them mentality.
