I was a proud participant of the F/A-18 Avionics and Flight Controls Test development Lab. I remember the day the day that Gil brought the Blues to St. Louis’ Lambert Field ( home of McDonnell Douglas) to fly the demo for the Engineers and Builders of the aircraft. It was the second public show in the hornet. It was an incredibly proud moment. Gil was a rockstar.

Was at the homecoming show at NAS Pensacola in November 1987 with my AOCS classmates just before graduating and commissioning, and had our photo taken in front of Boss Rudd's #1 jet with #4, then LCDR and later ADM/ COMPACFLEET, Pat Walsh after meeting the Boss. The next year, I had my Navy Solo certificate signed by CAPT Rudd and all of the 1988 Blues. Finally years later, I met Boss Rudd at Tailhook several years in a row: he was as nice and friendly as you see here, and was more interested in how my career was going and what was I doing then. Great guy!

I love the story about Boss Rud's daughter. That is a great one! It's amazing how aviation becomes a generational thing.

I can’t wait to read this book. I was home on leave from the Air Force and saw that Fargo Airshow in 1986. I’ve had the chance to meet Gil several times as a member of the Happy Hooligans and have always enjoyed his stories.

Glad Commander Rud comes out with a book of all those stories of his life and times with the Blues. I always liked the 1987 team because there were also guys from my state on the team.😊

Another great interview Ryan. Boss Rud is a great ambassador for the navy and the Blue Angels. Your interviews are right there with Ward Carroll and C.W. Lamoine. Both professional aviators and navy officers. Very knowledgeable and incisive...

I had the pleasure of working with Cdr Rud and the Blue Angels during their transition to the F/A-18. I was a Flying Qualties Flight Test Engineer at Pax River and it's one of the highlights of my career to go to Pensacola with my test pilot Maj Fraser to brief the Blues on the results of our flight test program to clear the Hornet for the Blue Angel's flight profile.

I have to be honest, I'm not much of a book reader as I used to be but I am definitely going to pick up a copy of this!! I am also going to get the audio version when it comes out!! Ryan this was such a great interview and I love the humble person that Boss Rud is so it is easy to see why he was selected!!

Angels is plural. Thumbnail and title wrong. No apostrophe!

Thank you for your keen observation on grammar! However, the title and thumbnail are designed to reflect the exact title of my guest's book, 'From the Prairie to the Pacific: A Blue Angel's Journey.' It seems we've both learned something today-me about your passion for punctuation and you about the importance of context before critique. Cheers to learning and growing together! 📚✨
