08.05.24 Sai Yok National Park, Thailand
With Steve Coupland and Steve Dockrill
It’s so hot in Thailand right now so we got up at 4 am and we’re on the road by five. We stopped at the Sai Yok waterfall right beside Highway 323 and had the place to ourselves as it was still so early.
We managed to get into the National Park at the price for Thai people which is 60 baht each (foreigners are normally charged 300 baht but if you can speak a bit of Thai and explain that you work here and pay taxes same as everyone else you have half a chance!!)
We rode over the little suspension bridge (yes, we did ask permission first as it’s usually just a pedestrian bridge) and then we went and found a boat to take us up the river.
We had lunch at Baan Ricky (he has a motorcross track in his back garden) but unfortunately the boss was absent.
Then we took the wonderful suspension bridge behind Hellfire Pass and the off-road trail beyond that before heading home to our hotel in Kanchanaburi. It was an amazing day and the heat wasn’t too terrible.
