As a historian, I slightly disagreed with the movie's depiction of Europe regarding the Medieval ages, or the "Dark Ages" as they call it, Greeks and Romans have already developed the aspects of Medical sciences and pseudo-physiology and built hospices throughout the cities. but yes, the Arabs and Persians brought it to the following new and higher levels which advanced our knowledge that brought us the modern biology we know today.
@davidgreen5994
Жыл бұрын
Well, the Romans and Greeks may have built those things, but a lot of it was lost after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Herophilos writings, the earliest anatomist of Europe, were lost, and Galean's writings started to return to Western Europe from the Islamic world, only in the 11th century, the same era this movie tries to picture. Thou, most of that happened in Italy and reached England later.
@valorwarrior7628
Жыл бұрын
@@davidgreen5994 exactly my point, the European knowledge went through a lot of transition and handover of owners, one of the reasons why the knowledge when it comes to physiology and biology were lost is because of the Arab invasion of Roman territories, and because of such, Europe has also lost the Greco-Roman knowledge of science to the Arabs while the same Arabs meanwhile brought and elevated it to the next levels as we know it today.
@valorwarrior7628
Жыл бұрын
@McAtlas correction, no one even says that the Arabs stopped the advancements of scientific knowledge and research of such context, you actually missed my point though. And also, Al-Andalus is Spain and Portugal (the Visigoths and Suebians not the Vandals), when you say the Vandals, they were the Al-Maghribi or present day Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morrocco. In my 3rd paragraph, that's why I said that the Arabs (the Abbassidae) put the continued advancements in scientific literatures and researches as the Abbasid empire had the control of Roman and Persian knowledge when it comes to medical and physiological sciences. Care to read what I said before commenting to me first.

But it never existed like Ava Sina made it ,read the history and leave your personal pride aside to give justice to this great scientist, and yes most of modern sciences are from Muslim scholars ( ibn Khaldoun , ava Sina , algebra ….) but actually none of theme is an Arab !!!! This is a perfect example of why we need universal healthcare. In my state only the very wealthy and the poor/lazy get good health care. Everyone else has to pay alot for mediocre healthcare. I pay $50/week for health insurance and then i get bit by a dog and it cost me $1800 for an xray and antibiotics. If i didn't work it would have been free. So before I get really sick from something I'm going to have to quit my job and when I get better I'll have to find a job again. Thats dumb.When my sister in law gave birth they got a bill for $12,000 but my cousin has given birth to 7 kids and has custody of 0 and never received a medical bill ever because she has never worked and drank liquor through all her pregnancies.
