With no ABS breaking, No air bags, no LED headlights, No power steering, how about a nice sunroof or just something like keyless entry. Modern cars provide a lot of benefit and I really value safety over affordability. No point having money in the bank if you are sitting in hospital.

The 94 accord had all the safety features you listed + power steering. It's also very easy to switch out the head lights to LEDs and blind everyone else. Maybe not your cup of tea, but affordable, reliable, and easy to work on. Biggest issue to me is that it would feel underpowered on today's roads.

94 EX Sedan with all the options was my first car in ‘03. I absolutely loved it. I don’t know if I’ll ever have that same sensation. Sad to say, I t-boned another car pulling out that didn’t look before turning out of a gas station and that was the end of the road for that car

You joke, but that’s basically how I got my 96 Camry v6 with 61k miles on it. Old lady driven and garage kept. Seriously the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven. I still have it with ~80k on it and never had any problems besides the suspension being insanely soft and she bottoms out on speed bumps sometimes lol.

Back in 2019-2020 my grandmother called me and asked if i wanted a free car. I was in the military at the time and was conveniently looking for one. I told her hell yeah and she shipped it to me about a month later. 2000 ford focus station wagon with only 12k miles. She bought it brand new in 2000 and over 20 years she would only take it out of the garage about once a month to get groceries or go to the doctor. It was in almost perfect condition. I got ripped on from my buddies for driving such a dumb looking car all the while they were paying $500+ a month with high interest. I didn’t care. Saved me a lot of money over the years. Thanks grandma.

This is not true at all. In fact of all the cars I've owned, Toyotas and Hondas have given me the most problems.

I don't have that much experience but if garage kept all rubber seals might be intact and that's the one area you have to truly examine. Sometimes you can get away with not changing the tires if your state doesn't have inspection. If they see the date on your tires you probably won't pass.

@@jsun3117 definitely, rubbers and plastics can wear from just sitting. Especially tires that hold pressure and weight. It would definitely still be some work to get it in good condition. It’s kind of a shams materials work that way. Hence the importance of the ease of maintenance. But for my sake I’d be happy with a few thousand miles from someone who drove it a little bit every year and did work on it.

I bought a ‘98 accord for $1,000. It had a total of 300,000 miles. Had a complete engine rebuild at 200,000 and transmission at 250,000. Thing was amazing. I pushed it all the way to 350,000 miles until I sold it and it’s still running at 375,000.

My 98 Jeep Cherokee XJ is nearing 27000 miles and still looks okay short of some sun damage. Not even the engine light comes on most of the time. I wish I could get it repainted, but it would never be worth the cost. It's very valuable to me because I grew up with that car as a kid, it was given to me at 15, and now I have every intent to drive it until it quits.

@CookieMonster look up the crash tests, these cars completely collapse and cave in against SUVs & trucks from that time period and anything more modern that has better safety will annihilate it, I love the look of 90’s Hondas but they are death traps against what’s on the road nowadays, the 2004 Honda accord was the 1st midsize Honda to finally not crumble up when hit by a truck/suv

@@DrEvilTag That's an outright lie. Those cars were solidly built back then. I know because I have a 99' Accord V6 that I've had for 16 years and it's built like a tank. These cars are some of the safest on the road so I don't know where you get that BS from.

I had that 1994 Accord in that color! But it was a 4 door and it was an EX-L so charcoal grey leather! I got it in 1995 with 2k miles on it. I loved that thing. Had it for 9 years with ZERO issues. I love that front end... no stupid ridiculously over styled front end with oversized grill like all of today's cars. . It's sleek!

Really it was the previous, 4th gen F22a motor that were truly bulletproof. This was pre vtech. These engines were insanely hard to kill.

Its a very nice coupe. Our family had one of these but with four door. Also, it was the first time a v6 was ever offered in an Accord.

90s Japanese cars actually had great build quality. Soft touch dashes and big buttons that were easy to reach. 90s seats both Japanese or American were super comfy too.

We bought a used 94 Accord for our daughters first car. It had been driven one hundred thousand miles. Fast forward to when the car had accumulated another hundred thousand and had another kid use it through her college years. It had some obvious signs of wear but was sold to another family for their new driver. “Sylvia”, the silver Honda is still on the road! She’s an excellent automobile.

I agree the new cloth seats look nice when they are clean but they stain so damn easily. Couple drops of water and bam. They are still comfortable though

My dad and I both used his dad's parent's 1996 Accord, but it had 160,000 miles on it when my dad started driving it again. I loved that car. It has the exact interior, but a sedan and the exterior is slightly different. That car has survived the Arctic Christmas we had this year in Ohio and sat frozen shut for 3 days and immediately started after sitting for 3 days under 0°F. My dad still drives it.

@@jamesprice2563 They bought it new in Florida when they retired and brought it back up to Ohio when they got older. They were born in 1915 and 1918 and he died 6 weeks after her in 2013.

I had a 99 according. It had the mst comfortable seats of any car i ever owned and that's plenty. The back seats were crazy comfy. The interior was exactly like this one if i remember.

But who puts a base automatic away in storage? 91-93 GSR with 100k is probably worth more than this car. I know 7.3l powerstroke excursions are worth more with 1000 times the mileage.

I owned a 1999 Honda Accord until 2020. 372,000 miles. The seats were still super comfortable, 100% of the buttons on the dashboard worked, it was reliable and inexpensive to maintain. Amazing Japanese technology. Now I drive a new Toyota Corolla Hybrid. 53 mpg. Rated #1 most reliable car in several reputable lists.

@@matthewgonano636ep I’ve got a 2021 Mazda 3 and it’s all physical buttons. Apple CarPlay works fine with a knob. It still has the red to blue and fan speed ac knobs too. None of that auto junk. My only gripe is that the center dial on the instrument cluster is digital instead of a real dial like the others. But at least it doesn’t look like a screen. I dread the day I have to replace this car and have the entire interior just be an iPad.

I owned 6 different 90s Hondas and Acuras, all 5 speeds. I had the same Accord but a 95 white ex coupe 5 speed. Had a 93 civic ex couple, 97 Acura 2.2CL, 96 Acura Integra GS-R, 1996 Accord 4door EX and a 1996 Civic 4 Door. These cars are incredibly reliable, easy to work on, and the manual transmission models are way more fun to drive than they seem like they would be. I now drive an 08 Honda Ridgeline, I guess I'm a Honda fanboy haha

1990 Toyota Corolla was what I learned to drive on. Great car. Did really easy donuts in the snow with the hand brake. I currently own a 1995 mustang gt with that navy blue vinyl and cloth interior. And that nostalgic smell you can’t forget. Love it.
